🇨🇭 The Swiss foreign ministry has refused to take in Ukrainians wounded in hostilities at home for fear of breaking neutrality, Swiss media reported on Monday.

▪️ Swiss cantons provisionally agreed to bring in wounded Ukrainian troops and civilians for treatment after the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Center made the request in May, the Tages-Anzeiger newspaper reported.

▪️ The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs said in June, however, after three weeks of deliberations, that it had to turn down the request on "legal and practical grounds" because Geneva and The Hague conventions require that belligerents tendered in neutral territory do not take part again in military operations.

Jill LeCroix, a 57-year-old grandma of five, was left bleeding after she was blitzed by three black women on July 9 while riding the city bus — an attack now being investigated by the NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force.

“Before they hit me, the girl with the green hair said, ‘You probably like Trump! Don’t you?’ LeCroix recalled. “I said, ‘I love him.’ I didn’t see which one hit me first."

LeCroix, who has three biracial children, said she needed three stiches on her head.

🇬🇧✈️ UK heatwave: Britain's Royal Air Force has halted flights at its largest air base because the "runway has melted" in the hot weather, according to sources cited by Sky News.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has not responded to reports that the heat has affected the runway at the site, but it has confirmed that aircraft are using alternative airfields.

🔎The gunman who killed 17 people at Parkland high school has gone on trial in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with jurors set to decide whether he faces the death penalty or life in prison. Nikolas Cruz, 23, pleaded guilty last year to 17 counts of first-degree murder over the 2018 Parkland shooting.

In openings at Cruz’s sentencing trial, lead prosecutor Mike Satz told jurors that the mass murderer’s premeditated and merciless depravity warranted execution rather than life without parole.

“I’m going to speak to you about the unspeakable,” Satz said. “About this defendant’s goal-directed, planned, systematic murder — mass murder — of 14 children, an athletic director, a teacher, and a coach.”

Cruz said he believes the victims' families should decide whether he lives or dies. But Scherer told him state law mandates that a jury make that ruling. The penalty phase is expected to start with jury selection on Jan. 4.

☀️🌤Hot temperatures will move into the Northeast and I-95 corridor this week, including New York, Boston, and Washington D.C., with temperatures at or above 100 degrees.

“This is really going to be a big story over the next couple of days,” said FOX weather meteorologist Jane Minar. “Ninety degrees, well above average, and it’s only going to get worse the later in the week that we go.”

The heat index values will be well into the 90s starting Tuesday, worsening as the week continues. In the mid-Atlantic, heat index values will be about 97 degrees in Richmond, Virginia. Those hot values will extend to the north into New York City, where it will feel like 96 degrees.

On Wednesday, it’s going to feel even hotter. Millions of Americans from Washington to New York City and into Boston and New England will feel like it’s close to, if not at, 100 degrees.

For a brief moment, a man in just his underwear walked through the background of a woman's live appearance during an appearance on CNBC's "Squawk Box."

Sorkin and Firestone either ignored the blooper or decided not to call attention to it. The CNBC anchor continued with his original question on upcoming market guidance.
