🇹🇳 Over 90% of voters voted for the new constitution of Tunisia, which significantly expands the president's power: the country will no longer be a presidential-parliamentary republic, and the head of state gets the authority to appoint the government and judges.

Demonstrations were held in the streets of the capital in support of President Kais Saied.

🗣 The president appeared in front of a jubilant crowd and said that "Tunisia has entered a new phase." Without naming them, the president promised “all those who have committed crimes against the country will be held accountable for their actions.”

🇹🇳 “A dark day for democracy” - western news agencies on the referendum in Tunisia.

Several news agencies, including the Washington Post, link the voting results with a purported failure of democracy in the region, fearing that "Tunisia could send an ominous signal to the rest of the Middle East and North Africa. At stake is nothing less than the fate of the Arab world’s most promising experiment in democratic governance.”

Commenting on the event, the Guardian said: “Many view Saied’s moves as a nail in the coffin of the Arab Spring. Tunisians are expected to approve giving the president unfettered powers, ending the country’s stumbles towards democratic rule and capping the turbulent decade across the region known as the Arab Spring."

A probe into the US president's son, Hunter Biden, has reached a 'critical juncture' and investigators are considering possible charges, Fox News reported citing sources. Hunter has already been investigated for his financial and business transactions in…
🤔 The FBI downplayed or discredited negative information about Hunter Biden ahead of the 2020 election, according to GOP Senator Chuck Grassley.

In letters to the FBI, the senator revealed that a “highly credible” whistleblower had come forward alleging a widespread effort by some FBI officials to turn a blind eye to negative evidence on President Joe Biden's son.

The Republican argued that the allegations obtained by his office “appear to indicate that there was a scheme in place among certain FBI officials to undermine derogatory information connected to Hunter Biden by falsely suggesting it was disinformation.”
