"People's Liberation Army Air Force Su-35 fighters did not cross the Taiwan Strait, but other models of aircraft crossed the median line. The Ministry of Defense is taking measures to respond to the situation," Taiwanese Defense Ministry spokesman Sun Lifang said on Tuesday.

The United States expects China to continue to react to the visit by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan over a longer period of time beyond the trip itself, National Security Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said on Tuesday.

"China has positioned itself to take further steps and we expect that they will continue to react over a longer-term horizon," Kirby told a briefing. "I couldn't give you a date of certain of what that horizon looks like but we certainly would expect them to react even beyond her trip."

Kirby further underscored that the US “does not seek and does not want a crisis,” while noting that US President Joe Biden “respects” Pelosi’s decision to visit Taiwan.
