🚨 2 Fort Benning soldiers killed in north Georgia mountains

Two soldiers out of Fort Benning have died after a weather-related incident on Yonah Mountain in north Georgia, Army officials said. A spokesperson for the US Army said the two soldiers, who names have not yet been released, were part of the training program at the Maneuver Center of Excellence.

Three other service members were also injured. All were treated by Army medics before being transported to an area hospital. The cause of the weather-related incident has not been released by the Army.

📉 Elon Musk sold $6.9 billion in Tesla stock last week, and shares had their worst week in more than a year

Billionaire Elon Musk sold nearly $2 billion in Tesla Inc. stock on Thursday and Friday for $6.9 billion total on the week, which happened to be the worst for Tesla stock in more than a year.

The world’s richest man asked his Twitter followers last week if he should sell 10% of his 170 million-plus shares, and the answer was yes. After selling about 6.3 million shares this week, Musk would still not be halfway to that goal, and would only be less than a third of the way there if he does not count his Monday sales, which were from options he exercised and made by a predetermined plan in order to pay the taxes on those options.

Tesla stock had its worst week since the markets swooned at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.

⚡️ Trump-backed businessman Tim Michels is the projected winner in battleground Wisconsin's GOP gubernatorial primary
👍20👎21
Who are the big winners of Tuesday’s US primaries?

▪️ Minnesota
Rep. Ilhan Omar narrowly defeated her primary challenger for the state’s 5th District, winning some 51% of the vote. Opponent Don Samuels, who conceded after clinching 48% of the vote, told reporters he would have won if Omar hadn’t received Democratic backing. Omar will now go on to face Republican Cicely Davis in November.

▪️ Wisconsin
Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, who became the frontrunner once entering the US Senate race, snagged the Democratic nomination late Tuesday after obtaining nearly 79% of the vote. He will face off against the GOP’s Ron Johnson. As for Trump-backed businessman Tim Michels, he’s now expected to face Democratic Gov. Tony Evers after grabbing ahold of his winning ticket in the state’s gubernatorial race. The Democratic challenger has referred to Michels as the “most extreme and divisive nominee possible.” The governor’s race proved the latest snag between former US President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, both of whom have backed different candidates in swing states.

▪️ Vermont
The Great Mountain State, which has never had a woman part of its congressional delegation, sided with Becca Balint for Vermont’s lone Democratic House seat. Balint is favored to win the House bid as Rep. Peter Welch inches toward replacing the Senate position held by retiring Sen. Patrick Leahy.

▪️ Connecticut
In a state long home to the Republican base, Trump-backed Leora Levy will go head to head against two-term Sen. Richard Blumenthal.

😕 A safe-technology advocacy group issued a claim on Tuesday that Tesla’s full self-driving software represents a potentially lethal threat to child pedestrians, the latest in a series of claims and investigations into the technology to hit the world’s leading electric carmaker.

▪️ According to a safety test conducted by the Dawn Project, the latest version of Tesla Full Self-Driving (FSD) Beta software repeatedly hit a stationary, child-sized mannequin in its path. The claims that the technology apparently has trouble recognizing children form part of an ad campaign urging the public to pressure Congress to ban Tesla’s auto-driving technology.

▪️ In several tests, a professional test driver found that the software, which was released in June, failed to detect the child-sized figure at an average speed of 25mph and the car then hit the mannequin. The Dawn Project’s founder, Dan O’Dowd, called the results “deeply disturbing.”

🥰 Police are trying to figure out how a dog wearing a Gilroy license tag wound up lost in a small German village.

🍀 The Gilroy Police Foundation said they received a message with a picture of a dog and its Gilroy tags in the shape of a four-leaf clover.

🤔 According to a Facebook post, they still don't know how the dog wound up in a small village in Germany but confirm that someone, albeit not the owner, had picked up the dog. The Foundation speculates the owner may be in the military, which would explain how the pup traveled more than 5,600 miles from Gilroy.

Any ideas?
