▪️ Whether or not former President Donald Trump is indicted over what federal agents found during a search of his home will come down to perception management rather than facts because the US justice system has been politicized, former FBI Principal Legal Counsel Coleen Rowley told Sputnik.
🗯 "The task of predicting a Department of Justice indictment is above my paygrade, especially given the continuing politicization and disintegration of this judicial institution," Rowley, a Time magazine whistleblower of the year and former legal counsel to the FBI Director, said. "'Making one's own reality' perception management has triumphed, with facts no longer mattering."
▪️ This has been proven, she added, by the Russiagate hoax, alleged WMDs in Iraq, and many other powerful "propaganda sales jobs" of recent history.
🗯 "Which of the power-mongering theories of the two competing sides' narratives will ultimately succeed requires a crystal ball that I just don't have. But neither does... anyone else," she said. "All that one can wisely say is plenty of time does exist before the next presidential election for further political shenanigans, the likes of which can and will almost certainly rock the United States."

🤥 As part of his global tour to rally support for Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky tried to gain backing from Latin America by delivering a speech to Chilean university students and attempting to make a keynote address to Mercosur.
▪️ Neither of these endeavors succeeded, however, and the majority of Latin American countries and its citizens have either remained neutral or backed Russia in the conflict, as opposed to western states with which Zelensky enjoys broader support, for now. Zelensky’s lack of support in Latin America is partially explained by his strong affiliation with the US, several analysts told Sputnik.

😟 The United Kingdom could face a humanitarian crisis as people have to choose between meals and heating homes amid rising prices, the National Health Service (NHS) Confederation said on Friday.
🗯 "The country is facing a humanitarian crisis. Many people could face the awful choice between skipping meals to heat their homes and having to live in cold, damp, and very unpleasant conditions. This in turn could lead to outbreaks of illness and sickness around the country and widen health inequalities, worsen children’s life chances and leave an indelible scar on local communities," the head of the NHS Confederation, Matthew Taylor, said in a statement.

🚔 Connecticut releases police use-of-force data for 1st time
Connecticut released data Thursday for the first time showing the race of people subjected to police use of force, a reporting practice that many states are beginning to adopt in the wake of nationwide calls for more police accountability.
The data from 2019 and 2020 appeared to show Connecticut police used force on Black people at disproportionate rates compared with white people. The state is just the second in the country, after New Jersey, to publicly report statewide police use-of-force data.
The Connecticut report said that of the more than 1,300 people reported to have been subjected to police use of force in 2019 and 2020, 38% were Black, 33% were white and 20% were Hispanic.

‼️S&P Global upgrades Ukraine's Foreign Currency Rating
S&P Global raised Ukraine's foreign currency rating to "CCC+" from "Selective Default," the agency said in a press release.
"On Aug. 19, 2022, S&P Global Ratings raised its foreign currency long- and short-term sovereign credit ratings on Ukraine to 'CCC+/C' from 'SD/SD' and the long-term issue rating on the restructured foreign currency bonds to 'CCC+' from 'D'," the release said on Friday.
The agency said Ukraine completed its distressed debt restructuring and it has categorized the country as having a stable outlook, mostly due to the reduction in Ukraine's government debt service requirements and the expectation the county will have steady international financial support against risks stemming from the ongoing conflict.
S&P Global will publish its next rating on Ukraine's sovereign rating on September 9, the release said.

The US is setting aside an extra 50,000 doses of monkeypox vaccine for places with upcoming gay pride events. Southern Decadence, one of the nation’s largest LGBTQ events, is expected to attract 200,000 or more people to New Orleans over Labor Day weekend.
There have been more than 39,000 cases reported in countries that have not historically seen monkeypox. The US has the most infections of any country — more than 13,500. About 98% of US cases are men and about 93% were men who reported recent sexual contact with other men.
Officials also announced a new agreement with a Michigan manufacturer to help speed production of 5.5 million vaccine vials recently ordered by the US government.
