❗IAEA chief Grossi has left the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, a Sputnik correspondent reports
Russia's Ministry of Defense on the situation at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP):
▪UN Secretary-General Guterres’ lack of reaction to the Ukrainian provocation at the ZNPP is "puzzling";
▪The silence of the United Nations after the provocations by Kiev casts doubt on the objectivity of the UN towards the situation around the ZNPP and this leads to further escalation;
▪The deathly silence of Kiev’s Western sponsors on the topic of the provocation at the ZNPP actually confirms their tacit participation in its preparation;
▪The position of IAEA chief Grossi and his team, who went to the nuclear power plant despite the provocations of Kiev and Ukrainian shelling, deserves respect

📉 US life expectancy plunged again
The nation's life expectancy dropped for the second consecutive year in 2021, falling by nearly a year from 2020. In the first two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, the estimated American lifespan shortened by nearly three years. The last comparable decrease happened in the early 1940s, during the height of World War II.
Life expectancy is an estimate of the average number of years a baby born in a given year might expect to live, given death rates at that time. It is “the most fundamental indicator of population health in this country,” said Robert Hummer, a University of North Carolina researcher focused on population health patterns. The last time it was that low was in 1996.

🪐 NASA’s Webb Takes Its First-Ever Direct Image of Distant World
For the first time, astronomers have used NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to take a direct image of a planet outside our solar system. The exoplanet is a gas giant, meaning it has no rocky surface and could not be habitable.
The image, as seen through four different light filters, shows how Webb’s powerful infrared gaze can easily capture worlds beyond our solar system, pointing the way to future observations that will reveal more information than ever before.
“This is a transformative moment, not only for Webb but also for astronomy generally,” said Sasha Hinkley, associate professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom. Webb is an international mission led by NASA in collaboration with its partners, ESA (European Space Agency) and CSA (Canadian Space Agency).
