▪️According to officials, the overall increase is largely fueled by a nearly 26% jump in reports involving Army soldiers. It’s the largest increase for that service since 2013, when such reports went up by 51%.

Federal and local officials are trying to locate close to a dozen unaccompanied migrant children after Houston police raised concerns about a trend of migrant children going missing in the Texas city, according to US government officials and related emails reviewed by Reuters.

Earlier this summer, a Houston police detective alerted the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) after discovering what looked like a pattern of migrant kids missing from the homes of their US sponsors, according to an HHS official who declined to be identified.

The cases underscore the challenges to US President Joe Biden's administration as it faces a record number of unaccompanied children arriving at the southwest border who it must safely and quickly release to sponsors in the United States.

Gorbachev died on Tuesday at the age of 91 in Moscow after a long and serious illness, according to the Central Clinical Hospital. Gorbachev will be laid to rest at the Novodevichy cemetery in Moscow after a public farewell ceremony on Saturday.
