🚨Bloody holiday weekend - 15 people were fatally shot - in multiple cities over the US Labor Day weekend. Over the holiday weekend, gun violence tore through major US cities, including Philadelphia and Chicago.

Police in Chicago reported that seven people were killed in gun violence, and at least 44 were shot between Friday and Saturday night. Philadelphia - nicknamed the 'City of Brotherly Love' - saw a surge of gun violence over the holiday weekend. Within 72 hours, at least 27 people were shot, with eight fatalities, according to Fox 29.

As of Sunday, Philadelphia has recorded 364 homicides this year and has seen a whopping 2,440 shootings since Aug 28. Critics have noted that shootings and gun deaths have skyrocketed in cities such as Chicago and Philadelphia, where progressive lawmakers and city officials have called to defund the police.

😷Black and Hispanic people in the United States are more likely to get monkeypox but less likely to be vaccinated, a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows. As of Friday, there are nearly 20,000 probable or confirmed cases of monkeypox in the United States, according to the CDC.

Among the cases in this outbreak, "no one's been hit harder than those who identify as Black or Latino/Hispanic," said the report.

The report said nearly 38 percent of monkeypox cases are among Black people, who only represent 12 percent of the US population. Hispanic or Latino people comprise 19 percent of the national population and account for 29 percent of the cases as of Aug 27.

The CDC says racism, stigma, homophobia, poverty, and limited access to health care continue to drive these disparities.

☀️☀️According to officials, California's chance of power outages will grow in the coming days as the state prepares to enter the most brutal stretch yet of an ongoing heat wave.

Most of California's 39 million people are facing scorching weather. Temperatures in the Central Valley are expected to be as high as 115 degrees Fahrenheit (46 C) for several days. Meanwhile, temperatures topped 38 C in Los Angeles, hot temperatures for September.

Grid managers have several options available before power outages, like tapping backup generators, buying more power from other states, and using so-called demand response programs, where people are paid to use less energy. But keeping the lights on will also require Californians to continue conserving as they have been, even as temperatures rise.

🚬Electronic cigarette maker Juul Labs will pay nearly $440 million to settle a two-year investigation by 33 states into the marketing of its high-nicotine vaping products, which have long been blamed for sparking a national surge in teen vaping.

The settlement resolves one of the biggest legal threats facing the beleaguered company, which still faces nine separate lawsuits from other states suing the company. Additionally, Juul faces hundreds of personal suits brought on behalf of teenagers and others who say they became addicted to the company's vaping products.

The state investigation found that Juul marketed its e-cigarettes to underage teens with launch parties, product giveaways and ads, and social media posts using youthful models, according to a statement. Most of the limits imposed by Tuesday's settlement won't affect Juul's practices, which halted the use of parties, giveaways, and other promotions after coming under scrutiny several years ago.

🌪🌦Two tropical cyclones roaming the Atlantic Basin: Tropical Storm Earl and Hurricane Danielle, are coming in September. While both systems are far from land, Earl’s outer rainbands drenched portions of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands over the Labor Day weekend. Now, it’s moving northward in the general direction of Bermuda.

As of Tuesday, Tropical Storm Earl was centered nearly 600 miles south of Bermuda with maximum sustained winds estimated at 65 mph. Earl is expected to move slowly toward the north or north-northeast through Wednesday before gaining forward speed and turning more northeasterly by Thursday.

Strengthening is forecast, and Earl is expected to become a hurricane within the next couple of days. Earl will likely make its closest pass to Bermuda from late Thursday into early Friday as a Category 1 or 2 hurricane.

“100New Friends” TikTok user Samuel Donner joined “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday to share his story after the video of his experience went viral.

“I was baffled that people wanted to talk and would actually be friends with me,” said Donner. The viral video highlighted conversations and interactions with Trump supporters, many of whom agreed to be friends, and one, in particular, invited Donner to join her Bible study.

The forum has attracted more than 5,000 visitors from 67 countries to meet the roughly 700 bosses of Russian businesses and 27 chiefs of foreign companies who have confirmed that they will be taking part in the event. The largest delegation is from China with 114 people. Myanmar's delegation has 85 people, Mongolia's has 32, India's has 27, and South Korea's has 18.

🗳Attorney General Maura Healey won the Democratic primary for Massachusetts governor on Tuesday, bringing her one step closer to becoming the first openly gay candidate and the first woman elected to the state’s top political office — eight years after she was elected to the nation’s first openly gay attorney general.

Healey, whose only rival for the nomination dropped out of the race but remained on the ballot, will be the heavy favorite in November against the winner of the Republican primary. Former state Rep. Geoff Diehl, who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump, and businessman Chris Doughty, who is considered more moderate, is running for the GOP nomination.

The current officeholder, the centrist Republican Gov. Charlie Baker, decided against seeking a third term. He did not endorse either Republican candidate.
