🇬🇧 A video that went viral after the death of Queen Elizabeth II shows the UK prime minister calling the monarchy 'disgraceful'
▪“I’m not against any of them personally — I’m against the idea that people can be born to rule," Liz Truss said in the video.
▪As we knew from a previous video, in 1994, when Liz Truss was 19 years old, she strongly criticized the monarchy. The prime minister was accused of hypocrisy and betraying her beliefs by social media users when photos of her with the Queen at Balmoral Castle in Scotland were published two days before the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

🔥 US restarts burns of forest fuel
The US Forest Service is resuming its practice of intentionally lighting fires to clear brush and small trees from forested areas nationwide after a three-month hiatus to review the risks of runaway wildfires under increasingly severe climate conditions, the agency announced Thursday.
The Forest Service typically ignites 4,500 prescribed fires a year, aimed at treating more than 2,000 square miles (5,200 square kilometers) across the National Forest system. Very few of the fires escape control — a fraction of 1% by Forest Service calculations.
The prescribed fire program was put on hold in late May in the midst of a devastating wildfire sparked by the federal government near Las Vegas, New Mexico, when the flames burned across more than 500 square miles (1,300 square kilometers).

💰 $2.46 billion Boy Scouts reorganization plan
A bankruptcy judge on Thursday approved a $2.46 billion reorganization plan proposed by the Boy Scouts of America, which would allow it to keep operating while compensating tens of thousands of men who say they were sexually abused as children while involved in Scouting.
The plan calls for the BSA and its local councils, along with settling insurance companies and troop sponsoring organizations, including Catholic institutions and parishes, to contribute to a fund for survivors.
More than 80,000 men have filed claims saying they were abused as children by troop leaders around the country. Most of the $2.46 billion is to be paid to survivors, but some funds would be set aside in a trust to continue litigation against entities that have not settled, mainly insurance companies.

‼️ Buying Russian oil above price cap, forging info May result in sanctions - US Treasury ➡️ LIVE UPDATES
Purchasing significant amounts of Russian oil above the agreed price cap or providing fraudulent information or documentation of the transactions may result in sanctions enforcement, the US Treasury Department said in a guidance document for the policy.
"Persons that make significant purchases of oil above the price cap and knowingly rely on service providers subject to the maritime services policy, or persons that knowingly provide false information, documentation, or attestations to such a service provider, will have potentially violated the maritime services policy and may be a target for a sanctions enforcement action," the guidance said on Friday.
The price cap will be set through a collaborative process of countries who agree to participate in the price cap coalition, according to the guidance.

UPDATE | 🛢Ban on imports of Russian Oil to US remain in place after price cap in place - Treasury
The United States will maintain the previously imposed ban on Russian oil imports even after the implementation of the price cap on maritime crude oil imports originating from the country, according to preliminary guidance published by the US Treasury.
"Pursuant to Executive Order 14066 …, the United States has imposed a prohibition on the importation of Russian Federation origin crude oil; petroleum; and petroleum fuels, oils, and products of their distillation. This prohibition will remain in place alongside the U.S. implementation of the maritime services policy and price exception," the guidance said on Friday.
The price cap will take effect on December 5 for crude oil and on February 5, 2023, for refined products. Moscow has pledged to stop exporting Russian oil to those states that would apply the price caps.

MORE | 🇷🇺 Russian price cap mechanism to protect firms in cases of falsified price info - Treasury
The price cap mechanism on Russian oil implemented by the Group of Seven (G7) countries will provide protections for maritime service providers unknowingly involved in cases resulting from falsified records, the US Treasury Department said in a notice.
"This record keeping and attestation process is designed to create a 'safe harbor' for service providers from liability for breach of sanctions in cases where service providers inadvertently deal in the purchase of seaborne Russian oil above the price cap due to falsified records provided by those who act in bad faith and make material misrepresentations," the notice on Friday.

🚀 NASA fixing moon rocket leak
NASA said Thursday they will conduct another test after the repairs to ensure all hydrogen fuel leaks are plugged. If that test goes well — and if the Space Force extends a flight safety waiver — then NASA could take another stab at launching the 322-foot rocket in late September. Otherwise, the rocket will return to the hangar for additional work, delaying liftoff until at least October.
The Space Launch System rocket — the most powerful ever built by NASA — holds a crew capsule with three test dummies. The space agency wants to send the capsule into lunar orbit on a trial run, before putting astronauts on the next flight, in 2024.
