More Walter Smolarek statements on the US strategy in Ukraine:
💬“$60 billion was allocated to this effort. And there'll be more where that comes from if the $60 billion runs out. It's such an outrage, both in the sense of like peace and stability of the world.... Oh, can we really afford this? ✈️ Boom's supersonic jet is facing a lack of interest from engine suppliers
After Boom signed an agreement with Rolls-Royce for supersonic jet engines back in 2020, the latter announced last week that it had left the project. Now, other major jet engine manufacturers including Pratt & Whitney, GE Aviation, Honeywell and Safran Aircraft Engines said that they're not currently interested in supersonic aircraft.
Boom said that the project is still on track, though, and that it will soon announce an engine partner. The company has 20 airplanes on order from American Airlines and 15 from United. It plans to build a factory in California and start flying passengers by 2029.
Boom has said it would offset its carbon output through the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), but the International Civil Aviation Organization recently bashed supersonic travel, noting in a report it would use 7-9 times more fuel per passenger, per kilometer, than subsonic jets.

💊 Telemed abortion is expanding in parts of the US
Reproductive health-focused telemedicine company Wisp is expanding abortion pill access to six additional states, it announced Monday. The company launched abortion care in August with a program in California, and the service will now be available in Colorado, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, New York, and Washington.
Wisp is able to offer abortion pills via telehealth because of new rules introduced by the Food and Drug Administration during the pandemic. Laws around abortion are still in flux around the country, making some of these services a legal gray area in some places.
The expansion underscores the growing divide in the United States between places where people are able to have a safe health care procedure and places where they are not.

📲 A new California law will require social media platforms to add more 'protections' for children
California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed into law a new bill that could upend how social media platforms deal with underage users. The law, which won’t go into effect until July of 2024, is meant to place further restrictions on the type of data that platforms can collect from children.
The California law comes as pressure has mounted on social media companies to do more to protect the privacy and wellbeing of children who use their platforms. Lawmakers in the Senate have also proposed federal legislation that would increase data protections for younger users and President Joe Biden has said he supports banning online advertising that targets children.

🚨 EXCLUSIVE | Kiev trying to ‘kill as many people as possible,' says Venezuelan journo in Donbass
Alejandro Kirk, a special correspondent for teleSUR and HispanTV news channels in Donbass, has told Sputnik in an interview that shellings carried out by Ukraine in the region are “punitive attacks” that “punish ordinary people just for living here.”
Kirk, who sustained injuries are coming under fire after a recent shelling, underscored that residents in Donestsk are living in “terror,” adding that those who remain “know that at any moment, in any place, a Ukrainian shell could fall.”
“I saw a simultaneous attack on two schools in Donetsk on Monday at 11:00 a.m., when parents and teachers gathered. Friday night attacks on Pushkin Boulevard, where restaurants are located. At noon on the same boulevard where families walked,” he recalled. “All this cannot be the idea of a creative artillery commander, this is undoubtedly a political decision of the highest level.”
