🇰🇷 🇰🇵 South Korea believes that North Korea's activities in the eastern coastal city of Sinpo may indicate that Pyongyang is preparing to fire a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), Yonhap news agency reported on Saturday, citing military sources.

▪️ Sources told Yonhap that the South Korean military recently detected possible signs of preparations for the SLBM launch in the North Korean city of Sinpo.

🗯 "We are closely monitoring North Korea's SLBM-related facilities and activities, and maintaining a thorough readiness posture," an unnamed military official was quoted as saying by the news agency.

▪️ These alleged preparations may come as a response to the arrival of the nuclear-powered USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier for military drills scheduled for late September, the news agency noted.

📹 The Fort Lupton Police Department has published footage showing a train crash that severely injured a 20-year-old woman last week.

▪️ According to authorities, a Platteville police officer pulled over Maria Rios-Gonzalez in Weld County, near Highway 85 and County Road 38, after an alleged road rage incident involving a gun.

▪️ Two Fort Lupton cops later arrived at the scene and placed the woman in the back of the Platteville officer’s car, which was illegally parked on railroad tracks.

▪️ While the three officers were searching Rios-Gonzalez’s vehicle, a train blowing its horn hit the patrol car she was inside. CBI said Rios-Gonzalez suffered “serious bodily injuries,” including multiple broken ribs and a fractured sternum.

▪️ The incident has sparked a protest on social media, with outrage and indignation over the perceived lack of competence of the police officers.

📊 Inhabitants of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and the areas of the regions of Kherson and Zaporozhye controlled by pro-Russian administrations are holding status referendums September 23-27, with residents of each of the four territories asked whether they would prefer to become part of Russia or stay part of Ukraine.

▪️ Overwhelming majorities of residents in the DPR, LPR and the Russian-controlled areas of Kherson and Zaporozhye plan to vote in favor of joining the Russian Federation, a poll has found.

▪️ The survey, conducted on September 23 by Russia-based market research company INSOMAR, showed that between 94 and 97 percent of residents of the Donbass republics, and between 83 and 84 percent of the inhabitants of Kherson and Zaporozhye were in favor of joining Russia.
