The “Golden Lion” told the Daily Mail’s reporters posing as customers that he could take them for £4,500 each and promised that British authorities would give them food, blankets and everything they needed before putting them up in a hotel.

Hours after the meeting, French police picked up the criminal. But not for long: the “Golden Lion” was released the next morning.
