⚡️OPEC+ agrees to cut oil production by two million barrels per day, source says.
Chief director for energy at the Institute of Energy and Finance, Alexei Gromov, explained how OPEC+'s decision to cut oil production by two million barrels per day may affect Russia:
💬"Russia, by joining today and initiating a significant reduction in oil production by OPEC+ countries, in fact, does not lose anything. Russia would already be forced to limit its production due to restrictions on exports, which it will receive starting from December this year. In the future, Russia will be able to overcome these export restrictions, but at the moment they will really lead to a restriction of Russian oil production. Knowing this, why would Russia not legitimize this opportunity within the framework of the OPEC+ agreement in order to stabilize the world oil market? In my opinion, this is a very elegant and beautiful solution for Russia."

Chief director for energy at the Institute of Energy and Finance, Alexei Gromov, explained what OPEC+'s decision to cut oil production by two million barrels per day means for China:
💬“In this situation, China will still have an incentive to buy more Russian oil, especially after the entry into force of the European oil embargo, Russia, I think, will be ready to offer China additional shipments of Russian oil, and at a very significant discount to the world price that will be formed at that time. Strengthening bilateral oil cooperation will be mutually beneficial for Russia and China from a purely economic point of view."

🌪A week after Hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida as a powerful Category 4 storm, the death toll stands at 84, but that number could rise as recovery efforts continue, officials said.
The Associated Press reports at least 75 people were killed in Florida, five in North Carolina, three in Cuba, and one in Virginia since Ian made landfall on the Caribbean Island on Sept. 27, a day before it reached Florida’s Gulf Coast.
There have been deaths in vehicle wrecks, drownings, and accidents. A man drowned after becoming trapped under a vehicle. Another got trapped trying to climb through a window. And authorities said that a woman died when a gust of wind knocked her off her porch while she was smoking a cigarette as the storm approached.
Ian is shaping up to be the costliest Florida hurricane since Andrew in 1992. Wind and storm surge damage in the state is thought to be between $28 and $47 billion, according to an estimate from CoreLogic.

▪️A suicide bombing has hit a mosque at a government ministry in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul, killing four people and wounding 25, a ministry spokesman said. The explosion on Wednesday afternoon occurred as workers and visitors were praying inside Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry mosque, which is responsible for security and law enforcement.
The ministry is on Kabul’s main road next to Kabul International Airport and is in its fortified compound. A Taliban-appointed spokesman for the ministry, Abdul Nafi Takor, said in a tweet: “Unfortunately this afternoon, about 1:30 pm [09:00 GMT], there was an explosion in a sub mosque at the Ministry of Interior. As a result, four worshippers were martyred, and 25 others were wounded.
The incident is under investigation; we will share the details with the media when it is done.” On Wednesday afternoon, the Emergency hospital was closely guarded by Taliban forces, who were also heavily deployed around the attack scene.

💸 The US’ gross national debt has surpassed $31 trillion for the first time, the Treasury Department said Tuesday, as the country battles high inflation and contends with rising interest rates
💸🇺🇸The national debt has hit a new record, and with interest rates rising and high inflation sticking around, there are fears that the federal government’s debt obligations will become overwhelming. In August, the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimated that Biden's policies would add $4.8 trillion to budget deficits between 2021 and 2031.
There are also worries that too much debt not only threatens the country’s economic stability but will hurt Americans’ wallets down the road.
“Future generations are going to face lower wages than they otherwise would have. They're going to receive less in federal government benefits. They're going to pay more in taxes, and a larger share of our budget is going to go just to financing interest on the debt,” Goldwein said, senior vice president of the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.
