🇺🇸 Small business group files suit over Biden student loan plan

The suit, filed Monday by the Job Creators Network Foundation, argues the Biden administration violated federal procedures by failing to seek public input on the program. The group had argued that Biden’s order unlawfully circumvented Congress’ power over spending and said the plan was discriminatory because it sought to give particular help to borrowers of color.

Elaine Parker, president of Job Creators Network Foundation, slammed the program as executive overreach and complained that it does nothing to address the root cause of rising debt: the “outrageous increase in college tuition that outpaces inflation every single year.”

Six Republican-led states filed suit late last month, accusing the Biden administration of overstepping its executive powers, because the administration tries to push forward with its plan to cancel billions in debt before November’s midterm elections.

🇲🇽 Mexico files 2nd lawsuit against arms dealers in US

The Mexican government filed another lawsuit Monday against US companies it claims are responsible for the flow of illegal weapons into Mexico. The first lawsuit, targeted US gun manufacturers. The second, which Foreign Affairs Secretary Marcelo Ebrard said was filed in Arizona Monday. Ebrard said about 60% of the weapons seized in Mexico in recent years were believed to have been sold in 10 US counties. .

Mexico was seeking at least $10 billion in compensation, but legal experts had viewed the lawsuit as a long shot. The government estimates 70% of the weapons trafficked into Mexico come from the US, according to the Foreign Affairs Ministry. It said that in 2019 alone, at least 17,000 homicides in Mexico were linked to trafficked weapons.

🇪🇺 The EU has been trying to cut back on Russian oil, but it's still buying more of it than anyone else

Despite a pledge to wean itself off Russian energy, the European Union remained the largest importer of Russian fossil fuels in September, according to a report from the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air, or CREA.

From the start of the Ukraine conflict until late September, the EU spent more than 100 billion euros, or $97 billion, on Russian fossil fuel imports, the report found.

China is the second-biggest buyer of Russian oil, behind the EU. The emerging markets of India, Turkey, and Malaysia have been snapping up Russian fuel, with imports rising significantly.

"Why is Planned Parenthood now giving medical advice to children? This should be illegal," wrote one of those on Twitter.

"Besides all the lies, and inaccuracies, 'Talk to your trusted adult or doctor' - notice how they don't include the parent," another user said.
