🇬🇧 Liz Truss’s new Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, who on Monday ditched further tax cuts introduced by his predecessor Kwasi Kwarteng in his disastrous “mini-Budget,” called on Tory critics to give the PM “a chance” and ruled out he had ambitions to succeed her.

▪️ As Liz Truss embarked on a flurry of talks to salvage her tottering premiership on Monday amid warnings that she was “in office but not in power,” speculations surfaced regarding a tacit pact between a Penny Mordaunt ally and Rishi Sunak, The Times reported.

▪️ Sunak was allegedly approached by an ally of the leader of the House of Commons last week to discuss whether he would consider becoming Chancellor again in a Mordaunt government in the event that Liz Truss is forced to resign. The suggestion was purportedly rebuffed by Sunak, with a second source acknowledging the private conversation took place, but denying there had been a formal offer.

Check out the highlights from the address of Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Tuesday.

🔸There is nothing new about the latest sanctions introduced by Canada against Russia.

🔸No meeting is planned between Russia’s President Putin and IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi, but one will be arranged if needed.

🔸Peskov said, that he does not have any information regarding the alleged acquisition of Iranian drones by Russia.

🔸The Kremlin is not surprised by the first conclusions of European states in the Nord Stream investigation that the explosions were sabotage; this is what Russian intelligence said immediately after the incidents.

🔸Nord Stream probe conducted without Russia’s participation a priori adjusted so that Moscow can be held responsible, this is absurd, Pesov said.

🇨🇳🇺🇸 China’s government has been accused by the US of mulling “unification” with Taiwan – considered by Beijing as an inalienable part of its territory - on a “much faster timeline”.

The remark by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken came as he was in conversation with former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice at Stanford University and followed a statement from Chinese President Xi Jinping - while addressing the 20th Communist Party Congress in Beijing - in which he warned “outside forces” against “serious provocations” and meddling in China's internal affairs.

🇨🇳🇹🇼 Interpol is unable to grant observer status to Taiwan, Secretary General Jurgen Stock says.

“In 1984, the Interpol General Assembly recognized the People’s Republic of China as the sole representation of China. As such Interpol recognizes Taiwan is part of China and as China is a member of Interpol, Interpol cannot grant Taiwan observer status in General Assembly,” Stock said at the 90th Interpol General Assembly.

The assembly gathers once a year and makes all the major decisions affecting general policy, the resources needed for international cooperation, working methods, finances, and programs of activities.

🇮🇱 🇺🇦 Israel has rejected Ukraine's request for a telephone conversation between the two countries' defense ministers, according to Haaretz.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said Kiev would send an official note to Israel requesting immediate air defense supplies and cooperation in the sector.
