❗️Moscow sees no progress in unblocking Russian grain and fertilizers supplies under the grain deal, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said. "As you know, the implementation of the Ukrainian part of the deal has resumed, but at the same time, we still do not see any result in terms of the second part of the package, proposed at the time by UN Secretary-General [Antonio] Guterres and which involves the removal of any obstacles to export routes for Russian fertilizers and grain," Lavrov told reporters during his visit to Jordan.

🇬🇧 🛢 A UK court is expected to rule in the case of Glencore Energy UK Limited - a British subsidiary of Swiss company Glencore, one of the largest commodity traders in the world - for paying millions of dollars in bribes to officials from five African countries in pursuit of lucrative oil contracts.

▪️ The court hearing on Wednesday revealed that bribes worth $28Mln were transported in cash on a private jet to the continent to be distributed in Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, South Sudan, and Ivory Coast for five years up to 2016.

▪️ After the company pleaded guilty to charges of corruption in June this year, the chairman of the African Energy Chamber, NJ Ayuk, said that all Glencore executives involved in the corruption scheme should be held accountable.

🗣 "The African Energy Chamber strongly believes that Glencore’s leaders must be held accountable for their actions. Anything less sends a message that 'bribery is a necessary evil' in such regions of the world as Africa. That is not true. Now is the time to make that reality abundantly clear to corporate leaders who do business here," he said.

👩‍⚖️Mercedes Wedaa, who worked at Jeff Bezos’ home in the Seattle area for nearly three years, and supervised a team of five to six housekeepers, is suing the Amazon founder. She claims she was subject to racial discrimination by his staff, forced to work long hours without access to a lavatory and was denied rest and meal breaks.

According to Wedaa, housekeeping staff were forced to eat in a laundry room and forbidden to use a toilet in the nearby security room, which meant that they had to climb out of the window to get into the bathroom.

🗣“We’ve investigated these claims, they have no merit, and we’ll defend against them,” Harry Korrell, an attorney who represents Bezos and other defendants, said in an emailed statement

🚀🐶 On this day 65 years ago, the first living being, the dog Laika, was sent into space.

👉 The Soviet spacecraft Sputnik-2 with Laika on board was not destined to return to Earth, being expected to stay in orbit for only a week. Unfortunately, due to issues with regulating the temperature, the dog died of overheating between five and seven hours after the launch. Nevertheless, this flight proved that living organisms could exist in a weightless environment.

💭 Vladimir Sychev, a scientist, told Sputnik that dogs had been used for such tests in the past, as they are suitable for ascertaining whether a living organism can survive a rocket launch, and being in orbit. He highlighted that dogs are not used for such experiments now.

🙏 On 11 April 2008, a monument was unveiled in Moscow to commemorate Laika. The monument is made in the form of a rocket, turning into an open palm, on which a bronze dog stands.
