🇨🇳 🇬🇧 China is urging the United Kingdom to abide by the One-China principle, cease all forms of official contact with Taiwan and stop sending false signals to pro-independence separatist forces on the island, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said on Monday.

▪️ The UK government said earlier in the day that UK Minister of State for Trade Policy Greg Hands would travel to Taiwan with an official two-day visit on Monday. Hands is scheduled to co-host the 25th annual UK-Taiwan Trade Talks in Taipei, meet with the head of the Taiwanese administration, Tsai Ing-wen, and sign a Memorandum of Understanding to increase collaboration on technology and innovation.

💬 "We have repeatedly stated China's fundamental position on the Taiwan issue. There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an integral part of China's territory. China strongly opposes any official contact between Taiwan and countries that have diplomatic relations with China," Zhao told a briefing.

Head of US Nuclear Forces Claims Ukraine ‘Just a Warmup’ for ‘Very Long’ Struggle With Russia, China

US Navy Adm. Charles Richard, the head of US Strategic Command, recently warned the US would soon face a protracted conflict with China unlike anything it’s faced before.

“We have to do some rapid, fundamental change in the way we approach the defense of this nation,” Richard said at a Navy symposium last week.

“This Ukraine crisis that we’re in right now, this is just the warmup,” he said. “The ‘big one’ is coming. And it isn’t going to be very long before we’re going to get tested in ways that we haven’t been tested in a long time.”

Richard warned “the ship is slowly sinking” because China is fielding new capabilities faster than the United States, which will soon find itself outnumbered and outclassed on the battlefield.

🌏COP27: Will rich nations walk their 'loss and damage' talk or sweep it under rug again?

The 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as the Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP27), kicked off on November 6 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, with participants of the event agreeing on Sunday to discuss whether wealthy developed countries should compensate vulnerable states for climate-related disasters.

"Loss and damage" is a general term used by UN climate negotiators to refer to the impact of developed nations that have emitted most of the carbon dioxide historically fuelling climate change, on poorer nations that have not contributed significantly to the problem, but nonetheless suffer from it.
