🇦🇫 The Pentagon says two B-52 bombers arrived near Afghanistan as a move to provide US forces in Afghanistan protection during the pullout.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has approved an extended deployment of the USS Eisenhower aircraft carrier in the Middle East and the deployment of long-range bombers to the region, two of which have already arrived.

US and NATO forces in Afghanistan will withdraw ground forces from the country by May 1 and they aim to complete the pullout by September 11.
🛢 California Governor Gavin Newsom announced a plan to end the issuance of new oil fracking permits by 2024 and phase out the extraction of oil across the state by 2045.

Newsom took the measure in part due to ongoing attempts to recall him, with environmental activists slamming the governor for not making enough efforts to advance the fracking bill and conservatives criticizing him for not doing enough to keep the oil flowing.
The US Army's 5th Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery, has officially become the first battalion to test, receive and field the Maneuver Short-Range Air Defense (M-SHORAD) system.

The M-SHORAD integrates existing guns, missiles, rockets and sensors onto a Stryker A1 vehicle.

The system is designed to defend maneuvering forces against unmanned aircraft systems, rotary-wing and residual fixed-wing threats.
The Department of Homeland Security reportedly plans to raise the limit of migrants allowed to be released into the US as another option to the detention program.

The plan comes amid multiple statements made by representatives of US border security agencies about exhausted border security personnel and facilities under their supervision that are experiencing staff and space shortages as the country registers a record-breaking immigration influx.
A Mormon sex therapist Natasha Helfer was reportedly expelled from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for repeatedly publicly challenging her faith's policies on sexuality.

The therapist’s criticism of the Mormon Church’s practices and leaders have also reportedly "garnered her a wide audience among some current and former members."
🚀 The NASA/SpaceX team has successfully launched the Crew Dragon spacecraft to the International Space Station with four astronauts aboard while avoiding a collision with an unknown object, a NASA representative said.

"The object being tracked is classified as ‘unknown.’ There was no time to compute and execute a debris avoidance maneuver with confidence, so the SpaceX team elected to have the crew don their pressure suits out of an abundance of caution," the representative said.
A George Floyd mural was vandalized with racial epithets in downtown Houston, Texas, in the wake of the Chauvin guilty verdict.

While a suspect has not been arrested in connection with the HPD's probe, local artists, including the one who originally painted the mural, have already managed to match its colors and salvage the artwork.

A group of protesters in Plymouth, New Hampshire has urged VP Kamala Harris to grapple with migration-related issues while she visited the state to promote the Biden administration's hefty infrastructure proposal.

Idaho legislators have approved a controversial bill that would allow the killing of 90 percent of the wolves living in the state.

The 6-2 vote by the Senate Resources and Environment Committee will cut the animals' population from the current 1,150 to 150.

Proponents of the bill argue that there are too many wolves in the state and that the animals reportedly cause losses worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
🛩 California National Guard reportedly ordered a fighter jet ready ‘to intimidate civilians’ amid the COVID lockdown.

In March 2020, an air branch of the California National Guard received an order to put an F-15C fighter jet on alert status for “a possible domestic mission”, the Los Angeles Times has cited several unnamed National Guard sources as saying.

According to the insiders, the service members could have been tasked with helping state and local authorities “respond to disturbances triggered by resistance to stay-at-home [coronavirus lockdown] rules or panic over empty store shelves”.

The Pentagon reportedly believes that Russia is behind the mysterious directed-energy 'attacks' on troops in Syria.

The Department of Defense has briefed at least two groups of US lawmakers on its progress of probing alleged "directed-energy attacks" against its personnel around the world, and claimed that Russia is the "likely" culprit, Politico reported, citing anonymous sources.

The sources did not specify which evidence led the Pentagon to their conclusions.
