🇮🇳🇺🇸 American economists cut India's economic growth forecast from 7.7 percent to 7 percent.

📉 This is the second time this year that US rating agency Moody's has downgraded its growth outlook for India. In September, the forecast was lowered from 8.7 percent to 7.7 percent, and this time from 7.7 percent to 7 percent.

💭 "For India, the 2022 real GDP growth projections have been lowered to 7 percent from 7.7 percent. The downward revision assumes higher inflation, high interest rates and slowing global growth will damp economic momentum by more than we had previously expected," the agency said in its Global Macro Outlook 2023-24.

📈 Despite the weaker projection, India still has one of the best growth forecasts as much of the world is expected to go into a deep recession. Earlier this year, the International Monetary Fund also cut India's economic growth forecast, but left the country with the best result among the top 10 economies.

🇺🇸 Long delays in announcing the election results by Arizona and some other states have triggered growing concerns among conservatives. Some of them say that the election was "rigged again," citing the controversial 2020 presidential race.

💭 "I think it's always amazing that these election machines have problems on Election Day which is when most Republicans vote so that any problems on Election Day hold down Republican balloting, whereas you never have any glitches in absentee voting where Democrats vote, the postal service doesn't go on strike. People don't lose mailboxes. All the glitches seem to happen on the day Republicans vote," Michael Shannon, a political commentator and Newsmax columnist told Sputnik.

According to the commentator, the way to overcome this is to have extremely limited absentee balloting and no voting by mail.

💭 "And the vast majority of voting takes place on Election Day with paper ballots because, like Mark Steyn says, Republican politicians claim that we have a center-right electorate, but unfortunately, we appear to have center-left voting machines," Shannon added.

⚡️World needs grain, fertilizers from Russia 'whether you love it or not' - head of world food programme told Sputnik
The World Food Program (WFP) is doing everything possible to ensure that the grain deal remains in force and is extended, according to David Beasley, the executive director of the WFP.

Recently, Russia suspended its participation in a grain deal brokered by the UN for several days after its ships were attacked by Ukraine in the Black Sea. Moscow returned to the deal after receiving guarantees from Kiev to refrain from using the grain corridor for military purposes with the mediation of Turkey and the UN.

🗣 Returning to the deal, the Kremlin said that Russia still has not decided whether to extend it after the November 19 deadline. Moscow has repeatedly stated that the agreement is ineffective for the supply of grain and fertilizers to developing countries, and sanctions continue to hinder the export of food from Russia, although the agreement was supposed to guarantee their free access to world markets.

📱Taiwanese electronics maker Foxconn plans to quadruple the number of employees at its iPhone manufacturing plant in India within two years - report.

📈 According to media reports, Foxconn is planning to increase the number of employees at its plant in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India to 70,000 people, hiring an additional 53,000 employees over the next two years.

😷 The drive to increase the number of workers comes as coronavirus lockdowns disrupted smartphone production at Foxconn's Chinese factory in Zhengzhou - the world's largest iPhone maker - and concerns were heightened about 🇨🇳China's influence on global supply chains, the agency said.

📍Although the plant in India's Tamil Nadu state is small compared with Foxconn's Zhengzhou plant which employs 200,000 people, it plays a central role in Apple's plan to move production out of China.

❗️The US decision to strip Russia of its classification as a “market economy” is biased and politically motivated, the Russian Economic Development Ministry says.

🗣 “The US ‘market principles’ are essentially applied not to ensure free competition, but, on the contrary, to suppress competition from non-US producers," a ministry spokesman said.

▪️The US Department of Commerce announced on Thursday that it was depriving Russia of its market economy status in its anti-dumping proceedings. The decision will allow the US to apply national anti-dumping legislation against Russia and reduce pressure on American enterprises due to "market distortions caused by increasing interference from the Russian government."

▪️Market economy status was granted to Russia by the US Department of Commerce in 2002. Until then, Russia had been considered a country with a "non-market" economy, something that reduced the ability of Russian exporters to protect their interests and led to inflated anti-dumping duties.

❗️ The EU will introduce the ninth package of sanctions against Russia significantly later than it initially planned due to "sanction fatigue" among member states and a limited amount of pressure tools, an EU source told Sputnik.

🗣"There is already some sort of sanction fatigue between the member states, and also there is not much left to sanction, when it comes to sanctions against Russia, as most of the tools have been used in this field," the source said, when asked about reasons for the delay in the introduction of new sanctions against Russia.

▪️Earlier in the day, a high-ranking EU official told reporters in Brussels that the bloc might approve new sanctions against Russia by the end of 2022.

▪️In a separate statement, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the Kremlin sees a growing understanding that sanctions have failed to destabilize the Russian economy.

💬 “I remember very well in the first weeks of March, many EU governments were easy to jump on the sanction [bandwagon] banning Russian coal. I remember that the German government then was promised, explicitly promised by the commission, maybe also by the US, but it was all about Brussels, the European Commission. Everybody gets along with the coal then, but all the other energy use commodities such as oil, gas or uranium will not be touched. And that's why, for instance, Germany in the first place agreed on the coal ban, even so 50% of its coal import comes from Russia and said, yes, we can easily deal without coal but be aware we will never be able to deal without oil and gas.”
