🏆Russian film "100 Minutes" directed by Gleb Panfilov and based on Alexander Solzhenitsyn's novel One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich won the top prize at the 44th Efebo d'Oro international film festival in the Italian city of Palermo, the festival's organizers told Sputnik on Sunday.

💬"Panfilov is a master of cinema, he filmed only the most necessary. The film based on the story by Alexander Solzhenitsyn's One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich contains eternal poetry where suffering, freedom and humanness are intertwined," the jury said also highlighting great acting in the film.

The movie tells the story of a Soviet soldier who was accused of becoming a spy after being captured briefly by the Germans as a prisoner of war during the Second World War and sentenced to 10 years in a Soviet forced labor camp.

🤔 The US continues “to fan the flames” of the Ukraine conflict by investing heavily in “the war industry,” a US-based expert believes.

🗣 In a nod to the ongoing Russian special military operation in Ukraine, he pointed out that most Americans are “not on board with their government’s strategy of pouring endless weapons into Ukraine’s war with its nuclear-armed neighbor and hoping for the best.”

🇬🇧 🇫🇷 UK and France are aiming to strike a deal that will help both countries coordinate their efforts to fight illegal migration. Agreement implies the creation of joint control center and an increase in the number of officers and volunteers operating on the English Channel beaches.

▪️ According to British media, about 40,000 migrants have already crossed the Channel this year. It is an almost 400% increase compared to 2020, when only about 8,000 people made the crossing to Britain from France. Migrants commonly enter the Shengen area via the Mediterranean coast and then head to the UK. The majority of migrants come from Albania (18%), Afghanistan (18%) and Iran (15%).

▪️ Britain is facing a wave of uncontrolled migration over The Channel and this flow is growing. This issue sparks political controversies, since one part of British society regards migrants with direct hostility and another one believes that it is moral duty of UK to help these people.

Final preparations are underway in Bali for the G20 summit, which will be held on 15-16 November. Jakarta initially focused mostly on post-pandemic topics under the slogan “Recover together, recover stronger”. The three pillars of 🇮🇩Indonesia’s presidency in the organization are strengthening of global health architecture, digital transformation and energy transition. New topics for discussions have come up in 2022 with strong divisions within the G20 emerging on relations with Moscow in regards to 🇷🇺Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine. While Western-led G7 members within the G20 strongly oppose it and want to boycott Russia’s participation in the summit, other nations remain neutral or supportive of Moscow. Indonesia itself wants to play a mediating role, with President Joko Widodo keeping in contact with Moscow, Washington and Kiev. Subscribe to @BolotskySputnik

As 🇮🇩 Indonesia’s G20 Presidency is focused, among other things, on transition toward new and sustainable energy, it’s very noticeable in the way that the Bali summit is organized. Venues in Nusa Dua area, where the meetings will be held, are accessible for 🚖electric taxis, futuristic EVs are used in official motorcades. Even some 🚔police cruisers are hybrid cars. The US's going to impose new sanctions against a transnational procurement network engaged in the purchase of technology for the Russian military-industrial complex, according to US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. At the same time, Yellen said that ending the conflict in Ukraine is the best way to help the global economy.

🗣"This is part of our larger effort to disrupt Russia's war effort and deny equipment it needs through sanctions and export controls," Yellen told reporters on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali.

🗣"As I’ve said before, ending Russia’s war is a moral imperative. And it remains the single best thing we can do to help the global economy," Yellen said at a Sunday meeting with French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, as quoted by the US Treasury Department

📈 Britons will face a double financial blow: their annual electricity bills will increase by an average of £900 ($1,060) next year, and a council (property) tax hike is expected to be unveiled in the budget this week.

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt is ready to cut government subsidies and allow average annual bills to reach 3,000 pounds ($3,530) from April, British media reported, quoting Whitehall sources. The new level is £500 higher than the current £2,500 ($2940) energy price "guarantee" set by Liz Truss, which was originally supposed to be in effect for two years and is almost three times the average of £1,042 ($1,225) in April 2020
