🌐👶🏾 World population hit 8 billion on Tuesday
▪️The United Nations earlier predicted that the world population will reach a new milestone of 8 billion on November 15 in 2022. According to the UN, China and India are the first and second most populous countries, each with about 1.4 billion people. However, India is expected to overtake China and become the most populous country in the world at some point next year.
▪️“India, the largest contributor to the 8 billion, will surpass China, which was the second largest contributor and whose contribution to the next billion will be negative, as the world's most populous nation by 2023,” the UN sexual and reproductive health agency said.
▪️The global population reached the 3 billion mark in 1960, 4 billion in 1975, 5 billion in 1987, 6 billion in 1999, and 7 billion in 2011. Projections also show that it will take approximately 15 years for the population to reach 9 billion, and by the end of the century there will be about 11 billion people.
