This happened to Jamaican hurdler Hansle Parchment several days ago in Tokyo: he confused the road to the stadium. When he realized that he couldn't get there using official Tokyo 2020 transport, a volunteer named Tiana came to the rescue and gave him money for a taxi. The 31-year-old athlete, who had never won an Olympic gold medal before, managed to get to the competition on time and eventually took first place!

Of course, he later tracked the woman and returned her the money for the taxi. In addition, the athlete gave her an Olympic jersey, and the Minister of Tourism of Jamaica intends to host her on a trip to the Caribbean country.

🤫 The Russian Embassy in the US has urged the US State Department to pay more attention to human rights violations in America itself rather than attacking Russia, citing a Russian Foreign Ministry document that analysed the human rights record in several dozen nations.

The Foreign Ministry pointed to alleged “gross violations” of human rights perpetrated by the US “both inside and outside the country, including through illegal unilateral coercive measures (sanctions), the most egregious example of which is the ongoing blockade of Cuba, despite numerous United Nations General Assembly resolutions”.

“However, this does not prevent the US from positioning themselves as a ‘world standard’ in the protection fundamental freedoms. Even non-governmental organisations loyal to Washington admit that the state of affairs on human rights is getting worse in the country every year. At the same time, criticism about the real human rights situation in the US continues to be ignored by authorities. Instead, Washington looks for ‘violations’ anywhere but at home,” the foreign ministry report suggested.

🚓In Southern California, Border Patrol officers have discovered 2.8 tons of methamphetamine and fentanyl with a total value about $13 million. According to the officials, the narcotic supply was hidden inside a shipment that a Mexican national attempted to smuggle across the border.

The 53-year-old Mexican driver was arrested for allegedly smuggling the narcotics and is facing federal charges.

▪️The first infantry battalion is set to arrive at the Hamid Karzai International Airport in the next 24 to 48 hours.

▪️The deployment will include some 3,000 personnel.

▪️The contingent has no plans to use the airport as a base to stage airstrikes in Afghanistan.

▪️US troops based in Kuwait will remain on standby to provide protection if needed.
