🇺🇸 "The US citizen’s dream”: Stanford University labels "American" as "harmful" language

A language guide noscriptd the Elimination of Harmful Language Initiative (EHLI) aims to remove “harmful language” from Stanford’s online properties.

▪️Filed under the “imprecise language” section, “American” is now a no-go word, because it refers to "people from the United States only and thereby insinuates that the US is the most important country in the Americas." “User” is also looked down upon with scorn, because it can also refer to people who “suffer from substance abuse issues.”

▪️The “gender-based” section advises against using “guys,” as it “reinforces male-dominated language,” while “ladies” is not inclusive enough for “everyone.”

▪️The “institutionalized racism” section urges to avoid “grandfathered,” because it has its "roots in the ‘grandfather clause’ adopted by Southern states to deny voting rights to Blacks."

‼️Putin: Kiev Deliberately Strikes Residential Areas of Donetsk, Targeting Civilians

Kiev conducts strikes against residential areas of Donetsk, targeting civilians, while no foreign media and human rights activists say anything about it, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday.

"As for these attacks, I understand that the strikes of Ukraine military directly hit residential areas of Donetsk... These are civilians [that are targeted]... No foreign media, nor any human rights organizations is commenting on this," Putin said at a meeting with the acting head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Denis Pushilin.

Pushilin, in turn, appealed to Putin with a request to strengthen the republic with modern air defense systems against the background of increased Ukrainian shelling.

Why EU Carbon Border Tax Will Lead to Market Destabilization, Higher Prices & Inflation

The EU carbon tax schemes are clearly incompatible with any idea of free trade and the mindset that contrived them might originate in the West's unipolar moment, according to Alex Krainer, researcher, trader and hedge fund manager, founder of Krainer Analytics, and creator of I-System Trend Following.

💬 "Such schemes might only make sense to the extent that the whole world adopts and implements them," Krainer told Sputnik. "Otherwise, they would set carbon-heavy economies at an arbitrary disadvantage against carbon-light economies. Carbon-heavy economies - industrial nations like Russia, China, India, Pakistan, the global south, oil and gas and mining producers have little incentive to abide by such schemes."

💬 “There's been some grumbling not only in the UK but also in the US that we're spending so much money on Ukraine when there are issues at home. People are really struggling in the UK. Pensioners don't have enough money to heat their homes, to buy healthy food, to just live their daily lives with some dignity that they deserve,” says Christopher Helali, a political and foreign affairs analyst and independent journalist.

💬 “I think that any idea that [EU is] going to go below that price cap is going to be suicide, economic suicide for the European Union. And that's why countries that rely on Russian oil - Cyprus, Greece, Bulgaria, also, let's think of Hungary, which has an active and important pipeline. That's where it gets the majority of its oil. They won't agree to it because we don't really get, Russia hasn't necessarily turned off the taps entirely. But this could escalate an ongoing economic war and it could heightened tensions to new heights. I don't think that they're going to go for it,” says Christopher Helali, a political and foreign affairs analyst and independent journalist.

💬 “It really shows how the federal government, the FBI was trying to push Twitter to say like, hey there is election interference happening. Give us the proof of it. They were really giving Twitter the outcome they wanted and then asking for proof, asking for Twitter to show it. But again, this goes back to 2016 where even Facebook in 2016 said there was not any kind of proof of Russian interference in the election. And then, within months, Mark Zuckerberg changed his tune,” says Chris Garaffa, a technologist and co-host of the CovertAction Bulletin podcast.
