🇺🇸🇦🇫US war veterans told Sputnik they fear the United States is unlikely to learn any lessons from Afghanistan just like it failed to after Vietnam, and drew parallels between the collapse of Kabul and the fall of Saigon.

"The US will turn on the people who helped them and leave them there as we saw in Vietnam in 1975."
- American Vietnam war veteran Larry Sewer

"I think it is like Vietnam. We’ve been there for a long time and accomplished little... from a military perspective, I don’t know if anything came out of this. They’ve been unconquered."
- Retired US Army Major Frank Phillips

🇦🇫 Reports on the ground indicate Taliban militants are executing people who helped U.S. forces throughout the years.
US embassy in Afghanistan says cannot ensure safe transportation to Kabul airport
🤬Liberal and conservative mainstream US media have slammed the Biden administration in the wake of the fall of the Kabul government on Sunday, two weeks before Washington’s deadline to pullout all American forces from Afghanistan.

CNN reporters are among those blasting POTUS over the Afghan fiasco this week. The agency’s White House reporter Stephen Collinson writes: “Biden is failing to adequately explain why he so badly failed to predict the swift collapse of the Afghan state. Seven months into his term, Biden no longer gets credit simply for not being Donald Trump.”

🔎The FBI has found little proof that the US Capitol Riot was coordinated, has no evidence that Donald Trump was involved, and believes the event was not an organised plot by far-right groups or supporters of then-President Trump.

According to the report, 95 percent of those involved are "one-off cases," and the remaining five percent are part of militia groups that were more closely organised. But there was no grand scheme to storm the Capitol and take hostages, the report said.

NATO has suspended all support to the Afghan authorities and insists that the future government must fulfill international obligations and safeguard human rights, NATO member states' foreign ministers said in a joint statement on Friday.

🗣"Any future Afghan government must adhere to Afghanistan’s international obligations; safeguard the human rights of all Afghans, particularly women, children, and minorities; uphold the rule of law; allow unhindered humanitarian access; and ensure that Afghanistan never again serves as a safe haven for terrorists," the joint statement reads.

🚔Investigators are probing the deaths of an American couple, their baby, and the family’s dog from. Their bodies were found on a remote hiking trail in the Sierra National Forest on Tuesday.

"This is a very unusual, unique situation. There were no signs of trauma, no obvious cause of death. There was no suicide note," said Kristie Mitchell, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office.

Initially, authorities believed the family died from toxic gases from old mines that were close by. However, they are now considering toxic algae blooms to be responsible for the family's death. The State Water Resources Control Board is now testing waterways for any such toxins.

🤔 President Joe Biden is contradicting himself?

📽 Footage from 2003 of then-Senator Joe Biden shows him passionately arguing for nation-building in Afghanistan.

🗣 “In some parts of the administration, nation-building is still a dirty phrase. But the alternative to nation-building is chaos, a chaos that churns out bloodthirsty warlords, drug traffickers and terrorists. We’ve seen it happen in Afghanistan before and I am quite frankly fearful that it may happen again.”

🇦🇫 This is in sharp contrast to his claims on Wednesday during his in-depth interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos that he has been a strong opponent of the practice all along, insisting that toppling the Taliban and nation-building were not among the policy objectives that America set for itself in Afghanistan after 9/11.

🤨 So which one is it, Joe?

❗️ @lindseygraham1 is calling for Joe Biden to be impeached if Americans are left behind in Afghanistan as the U.S. attempts to evacuate its citizens from the region
🖋 Pentagon journalist Jennifer Griffin:

"The president also said that there is no national security interest, no national interest in Afghanistan. I'm a little confused by that. Can you explain why there is no national interest in Afghanistan? Why did we have troops there for 20 years if there is no national interest in Afghanistan?"

🇦🇫 Is President Joe Biden confused again?
