A 7.9 magnitude earthquake has struck Turkey near the Syrian border killing at least 38 people in the country.
At least 42 people were killed in Syria as a result of the powerful quake.
Many residential buildings collapsed because of the earthquake and people are still be trapped underneath the buildings.
According to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Interior Ministry, the Ministry of Health, rescuers and other agencies have started to clear the devastation wrought by the earthquake.
The Turkish Interior Minister said that the country has declared the highest level of emergency
