UK government considered exterminating all сats at outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic

"There was a moment we were very unclear about whether domestic pets could transmit the disease. In fact, there was an idea at one moment that we might have to ask the public to exterminate all the cats in Britain,” former deputy Health Minster James Bethell said.

Eventually, after the first infected animal was discovered in 2020, the British government limited itself to recommending that cats from infected houses be kept indoors and asked owners not to kiss their pets.

Denmark announced it would cull all the minks in the country — up to 17 million — because a COVID-19 strain was detected in some species in 2020. Later, the Danish parliament agreed to pay mink breeders, affected by the destruction of their livestock because of the risk of COVID-19, compensation totaling DKK 18.8Bln ($2.7Bln).

NASA Space-X Crew-6 Spacecraft Launched Successfully on Second Attempt

The mission by NASA’s SpaceX Crew-6 craft had a successful start on Thursday at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The SpaceX Dragon Crew-6 craft was initially scheduled to launch on 26 February but because of weather conditions it was postponed to 27 February. However, on that day the mission was scrapped two minutes before launch because of technical difficulties - the ground system igniting the Falcon’s engines did not work properly.

The remarks come as the French president is on a visit to Gabon, where he is expected to take part in the One Forest Summit.

🗣 "This age of Francafrique is over and I sometimes have the feeling that mentalities are not evolving at the same pace as us when I read, I hear, I see that France is still attributed intentions that it doesn't have, it doesn't have anymore," Macron told the French community on Thursday.

The visit to Gabon is part of Macron's Africa tour, during which he is also set to visit Angola, Congo, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Scott Ritter: Terror attack in Bryansk designed to provoke Russia as Zelensky hits brick wall on battlefield

💬 “You do not target women, children, you do not target a civilian, a village, unless your goal is to anger Russia and provoke Russia into perhaps overreacting,” Scott Ritter, a military analyst and former US Marine Corps intelligence officer, told Sputnik.

▪️There were no military objectives, and the attack was a provocation designed to anger Russia by intent, which can be used by the Zelensky government as justification for requesting even more military assistance, Ritter said.

💬 “I think you're going to see more and more acts of desperation like this in an effort to push Russia into overreacting so that Zelensky could use a Russian overreaction as justification for demanding even more assistance from the West,” the military analyst added.
