Japan, South Korea Issue Strong Rebuke Against North Korea Following Purported ICBM Launch

Japan expressed a strong protest to North Korea over the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), the Japanese Defense Ministry said in a statement.

"The actions of North Korea, including also the previous frequent launches of ballistic missiles, threaten the peace and security of our country, the region and the international community," the ministry said. "The launch of a ballistic missile violates the relevant UN Security Council resolutions. Our country expressed a strong protest to North Korea and strongly condemned [it]."

🇺🇸 A freight train carrying hazardous substances has derailed near the town of Topock in Mohave County, the US state of Arizona, US media reported on Thursday, citing local authorities.

▪️ The train went off the rails not far from Arizona's border with California and Nevada on Wednesday evening, the newspaper cited Anita Mortensen, a spokeswoman for the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, as saying.

▪️ The spokeswoman reportedly added that she had no data on possible spills or leaks resulting from the incident.

Israel Reportedly Approves Export Licenses for Possible Sale of Anti-Drone Systems to Kiev

Israel has approved the export licenses for the possible sale of anti-drone jamming systems to Ukraine, US media reported on Wednesday, citing Ukrainian and Israeli officials.

US media indicated it was the first time since the beginning of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine that Tel Aviv approved defense export licenses for possible weapons sales to Kiev. The licenses have been approved for Israeli makers of anti-drone systems Elbit and Rafael, the officials told the media.

‘Worst Deal in History’: Former Australian PM Slams AUKUS Submarine Purchase

Former Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating slammed the current government’s plans to purchase nuclear submarines from the US and the UK as "the worst deal in history" in an extensive question-and-answer session at Australia’s National Press Club on Wednesday.

"For $360 billion we’re gonna get eight submarines – the worst deal in history," Keating said, when asked what the so-called AUKUS deal represents for the country. As to where Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s much-heralded submarine acquisition plan announced earlier this week leaves Australians, Keating was similarly pessimistic.

▪️ Sputnik agency, for its part, organized the collection of humanitarian aid for the survivors. With the support of the Doctor Liza charity foundation, the Sputnik team collected 25 tons of humanitarian material for transfer to Hama.
