❗️A number of people have reportedly been trapped after an entire building collapsed in Philadelphia.

President Joe Biden is heading to Louisiana on Friday to survey damage done by Hurricane Ida.

According to the White House, Biden will survey storm damage and meet state and local officials. He will begin his tour of the state in New Orleans and is expected to meet John Bel Edwards, the Democrat Governor of Louisiana.

"I think getting eyes on the damage in person - rather than reading about it, rather than hearing about it, rather than seeing it on TV - is really important. Because this is going to be a marathon, and we’re going to need a lot of help from our federal partners for a long time to come. And we need some of that help immediately," Edwards said at a briefing on Wednesday.

📱After a wave of criticism, Apple has delayed its plans to introduce a “child safety feature” on iPhones.

Last month Apple announced the CSAM scanning feature that would check the iPhones and personal computers of customers in the United States to flag up images popular with paedophiles.

However, critics said the tool could be used as a tool of censorship for searching for content related to political activism or to dissent. Apple had insisted it would allow security researchers to verify its claims but on Friday the company finally backed down and put its plans on hold.

🗣President Biden’s top scientific adviser, Eric Lander, has claimed that the ongoing coronavirus health crisis has laid bare “fundamental issues” with US public health system that “go far beyond pandemic preparedness".

“The issues include the need to increase overall public health funding, strengthen the public health workforce, eliminate barriers to access, improve data systems, address disparities, improve communications, and improve coordination across federal, state, local, and Tribal authorities,” Dr Lander said, adding that the US government should start preparing as any future pandemic will likely be worse than COVID-19.
