Russian and Belorussian athletes will participate in the 2032 Olympics, which will be held in the city of Brisbane, Australia, regardless of the opposition of the Australian government, Matt Carroll, the chief executive of the Australian Olympic Committee, said on Monday.
"It's not the athletes who started the war, who are causing the grief and the tragedy," Carroll was quoted as saying by Australian newspaper The Canberra Times.
The Australian government will regret implementing the ban, he added, recalling the boycott of the 1980 Olympics in Moscow."
The prime minister of Australia many years later said it was the wrong decision by the country," Carroll said.
Although the AOC condemns Russia's special military operation in Ukraine, it sees allowing Russian and Belorussian athletes to compete as an opportunity to "to bring the world together," he noted.

Yakutia-Hosted Climate Summit Focuses on Permafrost Thawing
Around 500 experts, including leading specialists from scientific and educational institutions in Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, China, Brazil, the US, and Japan, gathered in Yakutsk on March 22-24 for the Research and Training Conference on Climate Change and Permafrost Thawing. The conference, which was held as part of Russia's Arctic Council chairmanship in 2021 - 2023, covered a broad range of topics, such as climate change and those related to the sustainability of natural and technical systems in the cryosphere.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to support the establishment and maintenance of links between the domestic scientific community and foreign partners. This is especially relevant today, bearing in mind that due to the fault of certain unfriendly states, many channels of official diplomatic communication remain blocked or limited to the minimum set of topics under discussion," Sergey Lavrov said.

🇮🇷🇶🇦The Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, held talks with the Qatari Assistant Foreign Minister for Regional Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, to discuss economic cooperation between Tehran and Doha as well as global and regional issues, Iranian media reported.
During the talks, Shamkhani highlighted the importance of boosting trade and economic ties between the countries and developing joint infrastructure projects, the report said.
The Iranian official also said that a number of Western countries aimed at creating a rift between Iran and Qatar, which made it important for the two states to stay alert when developing bilateral relations to avoid serious issues.
The Qatari diplomat, in turn, welcomed the China-brokered deal between Iran and Saudi Arabia, saying that the move would be an important step contributing to stability and security in the Middle East.

🎭 International Theatre Day is celebrated annually on March 27th. This day was established by UNESCO in 1961 to celebrate the art of theatre and promote its importance in bringing cultures together.
The Donetsk Musical and Drama Theater has been a cultural center in the region since 1927 but has been continuously shelled since 2014. Despite this, the theater team has never stopped bringing hope, solace, and strength amid the horrors of the war unleashed on them by the Ukrainian junta nine years ago.

Donald Trump said the conflict in Ukraine has to "stop now" and reiterated his earlier statement that he would be able to have it solved in 24 hours
💬 "We have people [in power] that don't know what they're doing. But if it's [conflict] not solved, I will have it solved in 24 hours with [Ukrainian leader Volodymyr] Zelenskyy and with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin. And it's a very easy negotiation to take place, but I don't wanna tell you what it is because then I can't use that negotiation and it'll never work... The war has to stop now," Trump said.
