Italian Government Proposes Fine of Up to 100,000 Euros for Use of English Words

The Italian government is considering imposing fines of up to 100,000 euros for the use of English words in daily conversations and official documents in an effort to protect the Italian identity. The proposal is being pushed by the Fratelli d'Italia party, which argues that the increasing use of foreign words is diluting the identity of Italy and undermining its cultural heritage.

The government would provide citizens with a list of approved Italian alternatives to replace English words.

France has also introduced a law that bans the use of English-language gaming and tech jargon in official communications, advertisements, and public documents to preserve the purity of the French language.

⚡️ Moscow on Vladlen Tatarsky's death: international organizations ignore Kiev's threats to Russian journalists

Kiev continues to threaten Russian journalists with reprisals while international organizations turn a blind eye to the situation, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated just hours after war correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky was killed in an explosion in St. Petersburg.

Zakharova stressed that Russian journalists are being intimidated by Kiev and its Western sponsors, "literally marked with special labels" on US social media platforms, and subjected to a witch hunt in Western media.

According to the diplomat, the fact that relevant international organizations ignore this can easily be interpreted as tacit approval if not complicity.

New Research Reveals Fish Live Deeper Than Thought

The discovery of a new species of snailfish, the Pseudoliparis Belyaevi, at a record-breaking depth of 8,336 meters highlights the importance of deep-sea exploration and the need for continued efforts to study and protect the ocean's depths.

The mostly translucent body and gelatinous substance of the snailfish allow it to withstand immense pressure, while small eyes and a wide mouth help it catch food in the dark depths.

The discovery sheds light on the evolution of life in extreme environments and builds on previous research from 2018, where scientists discovered three new species of snailfish in the deepest trenches on Earth.

🇺🇸Former governor of the US state of Arkansas Asa Hutchinson announced on Sunday his decision to run for president in 2024 from the Republican Party, calling on former US President Donald Trump to abandon plans for reelection.

"I have made a decision. And my decision is, I'm going to run for president of the United States," Hutchinson said in an interview with a US broadcaster.

The former governor said Trump should withdraw from the presidential race in view of his indictment.

"I don't believe he should be the next leader of our country," Hutchinson added.

On Thursday, the Manhattan Grand Jury voted to indict Trump on charges related to his alleged role in a hush money payment and cover-up involving adult film star Stormy Daniels during the lead-up to the 2016 election. Trump denies the allegations, as well as the affair, and has characterized the case as a "witch hunt" and political persecution.

📰 Twitter removed the verification mark from the main account of American newspaper The New York Times

This happened after the outlet (which is worth well over $6 bn) refused to pay the monthly fee of $7 for the mark according to the social network's new requirements. Now, the newspaper's account - which has 55 million subscribers - is no different from other unofficial profiles.

💬 "The real tragedy of @ NYTimes is that their propaganda isn't even interesting", Elon Musk wrote on Twitter, criticizing the decision.

Twitter's owner announced some time ago that verified users had until 1 April to buy a premium subnoscription or lose their verification check mark.
