What are Storm Shadow missiles and how can Russia defeat them?
The recent escalation in the NATO-Russia proxy war in Ukraine involves the UK's delivery of long-range Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Kiev. Storm Shadow missiles are air-launched cruise missiles with a range of up to 250 km for the export version and up to 560 km for the domestic variant.
They are more potent than the missiles previously supplied to Ukraine, such as HIMARS rockets. The UK's decision has raised concerns and received a negative response from Russia, which warns of an adequate response.
Russia could target the missiles, air bases, or Ukraine's remaining inventory of fighters and bombers, and may further strengthen its missile defenses. Detecting and targeting the Storm Shadow missiles would be crucial, and Russia's layered anti-aircraft and anti-missile defenses, such as the S-400 and S-300 systems, would play a significant role in countering them.
How do they differ from missiles already supplied to Ukraine? Sputnik explains.

💭 "It is obvious that a full-scale hybrid war has been unleashed against our country. Their [Ukraine’s] American and European masters are heavily pumping our enemies with lethal weapons of all kinds …in fact, they are leading the matter to a third world war, to a global catastrophe in which, as you know, there are no winners," ex-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said in an address to the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.

Ukraine terrorizes Donbass civilians since it cannot win on battlefield
Yuri Knutov, a military historian and director of the Air Defense Forces Museum, in an interview with Sputnik accuses the Kiev regime of deliberately targeting historically Russian-speaking regions in Donetsk, Makeyevka, and Gorlovka, considering it a form of genocide.
He claims that the shelling of civilians and infrastructure constitutes war crimes. Since 2014, the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics have faced heavy shelling by the Ukrainian government, leading to the population taking up arms.
Despite efforts to reach a peaceful resolution through the Minsk Agreements, the Kiev regime continues its Russophobic policies and rejects the will of the population in the former Ukrainian regions.
The expert believes that Russia has a powerful defense and urges the population to stay strong against provocations.

Dramatic overhaul of classified intel system urged post Pentagon leaks
In the aftermath of the recent Pentagon Leaks and allegations of misuse of classified documents, there is a bipartisan push for reforming the US government's security classification process.
The proposed legislation aims to address issues of overclassification and technological modernization. The Classification Reform Act would give the Director of National Intelligence authority over the classification and declassification of documents, while the Sensible Classification Act would mandate the use of a unified IT solution for handling classification and declassification.
The reform includes measures such as a time limit on classifying records, financial incentives to discourage excessive classification, training for agency staff, centralized governance, and bolstering insider threat programs.

US conservatives should boycott mainstream media that covers up Biden 'crimes'
Scottie Nell Hughes, a journalist and former RT News anchor, criticized the mainstream media for its perceived bias towards Democrats and called for conservatives to boycott it until it provides fair coverage and exposes what she claims is corruption within the Biden family.
She highlighted Donald Trump's recent “townhall” appearance on CNN, a network he had previously criticized, where he made controversial statements about ending the Ukraine-Russia conflict and potentially pardoning January 6 protesters.
Hughes also criticized the media's focus on allegations against Trump while downplaying allegations against Biden.
She expressed concerns about election integrity and the lack of effective laws in place for the 2024 election.

Damned if EU do, damned if EU don't: Borrell says China-led world order inevitable
The European Union’s high representative for foreign policy, Josep Borrell, has expressed concerns about China's growing influence and its ambition to build a new world order centered on itself.
While previously making hawkish statements about the Ukraine crisis and demanding a military solution, Borrell now urges the EU to develop its own coherent strategy towards Beijing independent of Washington.
He believes that even if Russia is defeated in the Ukraine conflict, China will still manage to take geopolitical advantage. Borrell's conciliatory tone towards China contrasts with his remarks on the crisis in Ukraine and his support for NATO.

Ukraine officials 'realistic & pragmatic' about dubious success of counteroffensive
Behind closed doors, some high-ranking officials doubt that Ukraine will be able to gain ground in the new Russian regions of Zaporozhye and Kherson, as well as the Donetsk and Lugansk People's republics, at least this year, a publication in US media writes.
The puppet regime being used by the West in its proxy war with Russia appears to fear lest failed expectations about battlefield advances will result in the West becoming less inclined to provide financial and military support to Kiev.
Furthermore, anything less than victory could not only reportedly prompt the West to start questioning the point of propping up the authorities holed up in Kiev, but could witness Kiev facing pressure from its backers to agree to peace negotiations with Moscow this year.
