Biohackers and tech gurus are exploring ways to combat aging and prolong human life
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has invested $180 million in Retro Biosciences, an anti-aging company. Jeff Bezos CEO of Amazon and Peter Thiel, co-founder of PayPal also companies such as Altos Labs, a start-up dealing with “rejuvenation” science and Unity Biotechnology, a company researching drugs to target aging cells.
Metformin, rapamycin, and resveratrol are among the three drugs being touted as anti-aging candidates. Metformin falls into the category of "xenomorphic," typically used to treat age-related diseases and disorders. Rapamycin also prevents organ rejection in kidney transplant patients, and coats stents implanted in patients suffering from heart disease. The polyphenolic compound resveratrol can be found in various plants.
However, common approaches like exercise and a healthy diet are still advised by experts like Dr. James Kirkland at Mayo Clinic.

Beijing expresses strong protest over China-related topics in G7 summit statement
Earlier, G7 leaders issued a final communique at a summit in Hiroshima, which mentioned China, among other matters. In particular, they expressed their concerns about Taiwan.
"Regardless of China's serious concerns, the Group of Seven insists on manipulating China-related issues, smearing and attacking China, and violently interfering in China's internal affairs. China has expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to this, and has made serious representations to the summit organizer, Japan, and other relevant parties," the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.
The ministry also argued that the era "when a few developed countries in the West wantonly interfered in the internal affairs of other countries and manipulated global affairs" was gone forever and urged the G7 to "focus on solving their own problems, stop forming closed 'cohorts,' and also to "return to dialogue and cooperation."

Stealthy Chinese hypersonic spy drone purportedly spotted in satellite snap
A private Earth imaging company has snapped what US defense media speculates is an image of a Chinese WZ-8 rocket-powered spy drone parked outside a hanger at Lu’an Airbase, about 500 km west of Shanghai.
The delta-shaped unmanned aerial vehicle, typically launched from People’s Liberation Army Air Force H-6K and H-6M strategic bombers, has been the subject of consternation for Pentagon planners.
The sleek drones are reportedly capable of accelerating to speeds of up to 8,350 km/h and reaching altitudes of up to 50 km. A great deal of information about the drone remains under wraps, with its range characteristics unknown (its mothership carrier, the H-6, has a range between 6,000 and 8,100 km). It’s speculated that the drones could be equipped with weaponry to allow them to engage enemy ground, air and naval units, including carrier groups and fighters. But this information has yet to be verified.

EU Commission Head proposes reforming WHO to better "respond to future pandemics"
"We must strengthen the global health architecture. We need stronger global coordination in preventing, preparing and responding to future pandemics. The World Health Organization deserves a reform, with the resources to fulfill its leading role as the global health's nerve center," European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said.
The EU boss told a G7 panel in Japan’s Hiroshima that partners should learn from the COVID-19 pandemic and work together with the G20 group of industrialized nations to make sure that money can be deployed more rapidly and efficiently if another global crisis occurs.
She proposed increasing regional vaccine production capacities to create manufacturing hubs that will be capable of serving their regions. This includes helping them train personnel, improve infrastructure and bolster community engagement.

Huge weight of New York's skyscrapers may cause city to collapse & sink, study warns
The low-lying city is sinking at a rate of 1-2 millimeters per year, according to research done by oceanologists of the University of Rhode Island and a scientist from the US Geological Survey.
Although the bedrock many skyscrapers tower over isn't vulnerable to sinking, substrates such as clay and artificial fill are. The point of the research was to draw attention to the fact that New York is highly exposed to future flooding. Already, a larger part of lower Manhattan ranged no more than 1-2 meters above sea level, clarified the study.
NYC ranked third in the world "in terms of future exposed assets to coastal flooding". However, according to the scientists, and "90% of the 67,400 structures in the expanded post-Hurricane Sandy in 2012 flood-risk areas have not been built to floodplain standards."
The team estimated that every future high-rise building could "contribute to future flood risk".

Scott Ritter: how Americans fell for Washington’s ‘war racket’
💬 "The American style of war has become little more than a racket, and those who prosecute it racketeers. This is not the relationship between the armed forces and the citizens of America that President Harry Truman envisioned when creating Armed Forces Day back in 1949. We, the people, would do well to reflect on the present state of affairs, and take corrective action, before the original intent of the holiday is lost to us forever," Scott Ritter, a former United Nations weapons inspector and retired US Marine Corps intelligence officer, wrote in his article for Sputnik

Russian Deputy FM warns of ‘enormous risks’ of f-16 ‘escalation’ in Ukraine
When asked about the possibility that the Zelensky regime will be given F-16 aircraft on the sidelines of the 31st Assembly of the Council for Foreign and Defense Policy in Moscow Alexander Grushko described Russia’s position:
💬 "We can see that Western countries continue to stick to an escalation scenario, which carries enormous risks for them. In any case, we will take it into account when making plans," Grushko explained, adding that Russia has "all the necessary means to achieve our goals."
On Friday, American media reported that the US intends to greenlight the transfer of F-16 jets to Kiev by European nations. Behind closed doors, US President Joe Biden reportedly endorsed a plan to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets at the G7 summit in Hiroshima on Friday.

🇿🇼 🇷🇺 🚁 Zimbabwe receives fleet of 18 Russian-made helicopters for disaster management and policing

While thanking Russian authorities, including the Russian ambassador to Zimbabwe, who was present at the handover ceremony, the Zimbabwean leader condemned Western attempts to keep Africa away from Moscow, which is the target of a record number of Western sanctions.
🗣 "Zimbabwe is under sanctions, by the same people, for different reasons. Then you are told 'don’t speak to that guy who is under sanctions' when I am under sanctions. You are saying victims of sanctions should not speak to each other. What nonsense," Mnangagwa fulminated

Russia liberating Artemovsk proves 'Kiev’s strategy has failed’
The liberation of Artemovsk (Bakhmut) shows that the strategy of Kiev's political leadership has failed, because what happened there can and will be blamed directly on Volodymyr Zelensky and his remaining cadre, Retired US Air Force Lt. Col. Karen Kwiatkowski told Sputnik.
The fact that Russian troops proved to be highly successful in expelling the Zelensky regime’s militants from the city points to a “decisive change along the dividing line between Ukraine and Russia”, Kwiatkowski explained. The timing is important here, since it has occurred either during or before the "anticipated" Ukrainian counteroffensive, Kwiatkowski added.
According to the analyst, Zelensky is increasingly behaving “as if he does not understand the reality of the situation”: “With the complete fall of [Artemovsk], Zelensky's usefulness to the West, and to his own people, has suddenly become very limited.”

🇧🇭🇱🇧 Bahrain returning ambassador to Lebanon
The Bahraini foreign ministry said that the Kingdom had "decided to restore diplomatic representation" at ambassador level in Lebanon to "strengthen the fraternal relations between the two countries."
Saudi Arabia and a number of other Persian Gulf countries announced the withdrawal of their ambassadors from Lebanon for consultations in late October 2021, and gave Lebanese ambassadors 48 hours to leave the respective countries. The decision came amid the scandal caused by the comments of a prominent Lebanese journalist and TV host, George Kordahi, who was later appointed Minister of Information.
Before this appointment, the journalist told Qatari news agency that the war in Yemen was pointless and that the campaign of the Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia was an act of aggression, while Ansar Allah rebels (Houthis) were fighting in defense of their country. In early December 2021, Kordahi resigned.
In April 2022, Saudi and Kuwaiti ambassadors returned to Beirut half a year after being recalled from Lebanon.
