The attitude of the Japanese government led by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida towards Russia is wrong
On Friday, ambassadors of some 40 states visited the Russian Embassy in Japan on the occasion of the upcoming Russia Day, which is celebrated annually on June 12. Former Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama was among those who visited the embassy.
"I think that the Japanese government's attitude towards Russia is wrong. There have been various discussions, including on the territorial issues, and I thought that the improvement of relations would bring the solution of this problem closer. However, at present [Japan], in obedience to the United States, is almost giving military support to Ukraine, so Japan is supporting Ukraine and looking at Russia as an enemy. As a result, the friendship that we had until now is deteriorating. I deeply regret this," Hatoyama said.
The former prime minister said that Japan's power elite should adopt a more balanced approach to building relations with Russia.
"I think it is necessary to formulate a policy with a more correct point of view. Kishida's administration, as well as Japanese media that take the government's side, are fixated on supporting Ukraine, but I think [they] should have approached the problem with a more neutral attitude," Hatoyama said.

Germany can become a hub of the international coalition for providing Ukraine with US-made F-16 fighter jets and even provide training to Ukrainian pilots but it will not provide the aircraft
"We have never had the F-16 in our portfolio, but we can provide airports in Germany as a hub or offer basic training for pilots who have only flown the MiG [jets] to date. The actual training on F-16 must be provided by the countries which themselves use these aircraft," Bundestag Defense Committee chairwoman Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann said on Friday.
The senior German lawmaker also said that Ukraine could not become a NATO member so long as it was involved in active armed conflict.

The recent acts of sabotage conducted by the Kiev regime, are being carried out in the interests of Western states to prevent Russian fertilizers from entering global markets, said Andrey Suzdaltsev, associate professor at HSE university, in an interview with Sputnik Africa.
🗣 "I have no doubt that this is being done not in Kiev’s favor, but in favor of some third forces that control the world’s grain and fertilizer markets and who do not want to see Russian grain and fertilizers there," he stated, referring to the recent terrorist attack on the ammonia pipeline in Ukraine

Biden-Sunak talks signal 'end of any hope' for bilateral free trade deal - reports
The US and UK have unveiled the "Atlantic Declaration" for cooperation, but reports suggest that a full free-trade deal between the two countries is yet to be achieved. The declaration covers critical minerals for electric car batteries, defense industry cooperation, trade barriers, and data protection.
However, critics argue that the announcement signifies the end of hopes for a comprehensive trade deal with the US.
The UK Labour Party has accused the Conservative government of failing to deliver on their promise of a trade deal, while US President Joe Biden listed various areas of collaboration instead of committing to a free-trade agreement during a joint press conference.
The UK government has stated that it is not currently pursuing a free-trade agreement with the US.

Italy's industrial production decreases by 7.2% year-on-year in April
Industrial production in Italy experienced a significant decline of 7.2% in April compared to the same period last year, marking the strongest drop in three years, according to the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat). This decline affected all major industries, with a 12.6% decrease in the energy sector, an 11% decrease in the production of intermediate goods, and a 7.2% decrease in consumer goods production.
Istat highlighted that this sharp decline in industrial production has not been witnessed in Italy for nearly three years.
Experts noted that a similar decline was observed in July 2020, but that was during the second phase of the COVID-19 pandemic emergency.
President of the National Consumer Union Massimiliano Dona described the situation as a severe setback for companies and the country, highlighting the lack of policies aimed at restoring purchasing power for families.
