The United States will align with its European partners to ensure "a solid, secure" supply of gas during the winter period, US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said on Wednesday during her visit to Poland to partake in the 2021 Partnership for Transatlantic Energy and Climate Cooperation forum.

"We want to be united with our European allies and ensuring that there is a solid, secure gas supply for this winter, even as we want to continue to invest in energy solutions that help to diversify," Granholm said at a press briefing in Warsaw.

🇫🇷🇺🇸 President Joe Biden and French counterpart Emmanuel Macron spoke amid tensions over an AUKUS (Australia, UK, US) group submarine deal that undermined a preexisting agreement between Paris and Canberra. According to a joint statement:

🔻The two leaders agreed the situation would have benefited from open consultations among allies.

🔻They decided to meet in Europe at the end of October to reach shared understandings.

🔻Macron decided the French Ambassador will return to Washington next week.

📹On Tuesday, Haitian migrants deported from the US rushed back towards the plane they had just arrived on at the airport in Port-au-Prince.

Footage taken at the airport shows people scrambling for their personal belongings after their bags were dumped out of the plane, while others threw shoes at the jet. A group of Haitian men attacked an adjacent flight carrying families after it landed on the runway. Three Immigration and Customs Enforcements received non-life threatening injuries.

The authorization extends to individuals who are:

🔸 Individuals 65 years of age and older;

🔸Individuals 18 through 64 years of age at high risk of severe COVID-19;

🔸 Individuals 18 through 64 years of age whose frequent institutional or occupational exposure to SARS-CoV-2 puts them at high risk of serious complications of COVID-19 including severe COVID-19.

The booster is to be administered at least six months after the completion of the primary series of vaccination.
💵 The US State Department increased the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Sinaloa Cartel leader Ismael Zambada-Garcia, from $5 million to up to $15 million.

One of Mexico's most wanted criminals, Zambada-Garcia, aka Mayo Zambada, was a major coordinator for several Mexican drug trafficking organizations, including the Sinaloa Cartel, which is responsible for importing and distributing into the US cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, cannabis and MDMA.

US Special Envoy for Haiti Daniel Foote has resigned over the "inhumane" deportation of thousands of Haitians attempting to enter the US.

"I will not be associated with the United States inhumane, counterproductive, decision to deport thousands of Haitian refugees and illegal immigrants to Haiti, a country where American officials are confined to secure compounds because of the danger posed by armed gangs in control for daily life", Foote said in a letter

🤬 Brian Laundrie was aggressively arguing with employees at a restaurant in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, before his girlfriend Gabby Petito disappeared, a witness has told Fox News.

Nina Celie Angelo says she was sitting in the restaurant when she saw Laundrie having an "explosive argument" with one employee on August 27th.

The woman says that Laundrie left and returned to the restaurant about four times; she later saw Gabby Petito coming inside to apologise for his behaviour.

📃 Democratic lawmakers have introduced a separate bill which provides $1 billion in funding for Israel's Iron Dome defence system. The funding was earlier removed from the government bill.

House Appropriations Chair Rosa DeLauro, who introduced the new bill, says the legislation is aimed “to demonstrate Congress' bipartisan commitment to Israel's security as part of a Middle East with lasting peace”.

Former Nazi death-squad member, Helmut Oberlander, has died in Canada in the middle of his deportation hearing, the Canadian Press has reported.

The 97-year old who was on the Simon Wiesenthal Center's list of most wanted Nazi war criminals died peacefully at home, his family said.

The documentary premieres on 28 September on Netflix.
