🇺🇸 There is an ongoing debate among defense officials about the future of the US military presence in Eastern Europe, with some arguing that maintaining the 4,300 troops would be useless considering their presence has not deterred Russia. However, others deem their presence necessary to show support for NATO countries, media reported, citing three defense officials.

Uniformed defense officials have recommended Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin maintain the force and rotate the troops, whereas policy officials reportedly advised against the recommendation.

US media further indicated that a third option has been proposed to the Defense Department, which calls for the partial rotation of the 4,300 troops to reinforce NATO’s Eastern Flank, the report added.

The US Department of Defense revealed a new website on Thursday that will serve as a "one-stop shop" to declassified information on all things UFOs, or unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs).

Despite crashing on launch day, the "All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office" (AARO) page was quickly reestablished by officials, and is now expected to be available for reports from “current or US Government employees, service members, or contractors with direct knowledge of US Government programs or activities related to UAP dating back to 1945.” The reports, according to the website, will then be used to “inform AARO’s congressionally directed Historical Record Report.”

The Blendon Township Police Department has released body-worn camera footage of the fatal shooting of 21-year-old pregnant woman Ta'Kiya Young in a grocery store parking lot on August 24. This move comes in response to calls from the Young family to hold the involved officers accountable.

The video shows an officer by Young's locked vehicle, informing her of an alleged theft accusation. Young expresses her objections and denies any wrongdoing, leading the officer to request her exit. In the tense encounter, Young questions if the officers intend to fire their weapons. When she starts moving her car forward, the second officer fires multiple shots, some of which pierce the car's front windshield.

Material discovered on the ocean floor near Papua New Guinea, enriched in metals like beryllium, lanthanum, and uranium, is believed to originate from beyond our solar system, according to a recent study led by Harvard University astronomer Avi Loeb. The fragments are thought to be remnants of a meteor classified as IM1, which had an unusual velocity and was tracked by US government satellites before falling into the Pacific Ocean in 2014.

The study, however, has faced criticism from some researchers, as Loeb has a history of controversial claims related to extraterrestrial phenomena.

🇰🇵🇺🇸 US ban on visiting North Korea part of 'demonization' of DPRK

There was "no substance" to the government's claims, Betsy Yoon, a member of the Nodutdol for Korean Community Development group, believes, stressing that her organisation had organized 11 education exposure programs to the DPRK between 2001 and 2015.

💬 "One is to make people here feel like people in North Korea are sort of alien, very separate, and not think of them as everyday human beings," Yoon said commenting on the two main aims of the ban. "The second purpose is to make the case for that these people need to be rescued from themselves," noting that "military intervention is often stated as how this rescue can be effected."

🇺🇸 US 'laying groundwork for defeats' in 'two wars of choice, against Russia & China'

The argument that US establishment politicians make is that “if the US does not defend Ukraine, China will invade Taiwan,” a report by US media said, adding that this argument was flawed.

💬 “If China does make a move on Taiwan in the next few years, stockpiles already reduced by Ukrainian aid will make aiding Taiwan more difficult and expensive if policy makers decide to do so. The foreign policy establishment that lost in Iraq and Afghanistan is laying the groundwork for defeats in two more wars of choice, against Russia and China—both nuclear powers, putting human civilization on the line,” underscored the media outlet.

🇷🇺 Western countries supporting Ukraine crisis should be treated as Nazi collaborators, Medvedev says

The Kiev regime’s rhetoric about “persecuting all Russians,” regardless of where they come from, has “existed before somewhere,” Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said, hinting at the Nazi persecution of the Soviet people during the WWII.

“Banderite Ukraine is supported by almost all bosses of Western countries. Therefore Biden, Trudeau, Sunak, Scholz, Macron, Meloni,” as well as the leaders of Poland, the Scandinavian countries, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and the Baltic states are direct and obvious accomplices of the Nazis and should be treated like a Nazi coalition, Medvedev said.

💬 “We shouldn’t indulge ourselves in sweet dreams of how we will once again reconcile and live as a big polyamorous family with non-binary genders.”

🇨🇳🇯🇵 Japan forced to shell out extra $137mln to fishermen amid China's seafood import ban over Fukushima water release

The new measures will aim to mitigate the damage from the ban, mainly the purchase and storage of scallop, the fishery of which is particularly dependent on exports to China, Japanese media reported.

On August 24, Japan began dumping treated wastewater from the Fukushima nuclear plant into the Pacific Ocean, despite strong opposition from other countries in the region.

🪖 Why Abrams armor won’t be able to jumpstart Ukraine’s stalled offensive

David T. Pyne
, a former US Army combat arms and HQ staff officer with personal experience with Abrams tanks, expressed pessimism about the impact their deployment will have in Ukraine.

💬 "As a former US M-1 A1 tank officer, I can tell you that Abrams tanks, which weigh 20-30 tons more than modern Russian tanks, are quite susceptible to getting stuck in the mud so they will not be able to engage effectively in offensive operations during the fall rasputitsa [Russian term for 'mud season', ed.]. I don’t think the Pentagon feels the need to test these tanks in difficult weather conditions and since they are less capable than US Army Abrams tanks, I do not think they expect them to be game changers in the war in Ukraine," Pyne told Sputnik

🗣️ On what the modern Western liberal civilization is headed for:

If we consider, for example, a futuristic vision in the cinema and the art made by the West, by the liberal West… everything is a 'Mad Max', everything is Armageddon, everything is an atomic catastrophe, or atmospheric catastrophe, or ecological catastrophe. So there is no other possible vision of the future in the modern Western liberal civilization outside of the global decay. So that is a kind of revelation of inner void of the liberalism,Alexander Dugin, one of the world’s most famous political philosophers, told Sputnik.

🇷🇺🇧🇷 Sanctions clapback: Russian grain exports to Brazil hit historic high

Russia, for the first time ever, has become one of the top five sources of grain for Brazil, data released by the country’s official statistical agency shows. Figures show that between January and July 2023, Brazil imported 380,000 tons of wheat and meslin (a rye/wheat mixture) from Russia worth roughly $108.5 million.

The purchases were enough to put Russia on the map as the fourth-largest source of grain for Brazil overall, behind only Argentina (about 2 million tons worth $736.3 million), Paraguay (886,000 tons worth $290 million), and Uruguay (544,000 tons for $211 million). The United States rounded out the top five, selling roughly 80,000 tons of grain, worth $20.85 million, to its Western Hemisphere neighbor.
