Reprisal and torture videos of Russian servicemen have appeared on the Internet more than once. For example, in November last year, a video appeared online showing Ukrainian soldiers shooting Russians who had surrendered and were lying on the ground. In addition, military personnel who returned from Ukrainian captivity spoke of torture: "During interrogation they [Ukrainians] cut off fingers, shot their legs, beat them with rebar and electric shocks.

The UNHRC Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine said in its report that Ukrainian soldiers committed war crimes by shooting and torturing Russian prisoners of war. The UN mission reported 25 cases of reprisals by Ukrainian forces against Russian prisoners. In addition, Ukraine has not brought criminal charges against its soldiers who executed Russian prisoners of war, although several executions have been documented.
