In this context, hostilities are used to specify weapons characteristics and test them in real conditions, Stefanovich said.

He suggested that as for the Ukraine conflict, “the most important experience that the American army is gaining now is the study of Russia’s approaches to conducting military operations in the central part of Europe.”

🇺🇸 Almost half the F-35 Joint Strike Fighters that are supposed to be operational are not capable of flying and it will cost $1.3 trillion to keep them operational, the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) said in a new report.

"The F-35 fleet mission capable rate - the percentage of time the aircraft can perform one of its tasked missions - was about 55% in March 2023, far below program goals," the report said on Thursday.

The GAO called this level of operational readiness "unacceptably low."

"The program was behind schedule in establishing depot maintenance activities to conduct repairs. As a result, component repair times remained slow with over 10,000 waiting to be repaired - above desired levels," the report said.

🇺🇸 A US Government Accountability Office investigation exposed substandard living conditions in military barracks, which are detrimental to the quality of life and readiness of service members. Despite allocating $831 billion for the US military in 2024, little of that funding is directed towards improving housing.

The investigation, noscriptd "Poor Living Conditions Undermine Quality of Life and Readiness," revealed issues like mold, pests, and security concerns at military installations across the country.

The report included photos depicting deteriorating conditions such as broken air conditioners, missing locks, and black mold. Plumbing problems, including sewage overflow and outbreaks of Legionnaires' Disease, were also documented.

The Pentagon's efforts to assist Ukraine will not be affected by a potential US government shut down, Defense Department (DoD) spokesperson Chris Sherwood said in a statement to Sputnik

Congress must pass some form of government funding, such as a temporary funding measure, standard appropriations bills, a series of minibuses or an omnibus, before the end of the month to avoid a shutdown.

Biden is requesting from Congress approval for an additional $24 billion to support Ukraine in fiscal year 2024, but several US Republican lawmakers are hesitant to support it. Additional funding for Ukraine is not guaranteed to be included in a short-term spending bill if lawmakers fail to reach a deal on a full spending bill.

🥴 How Zelensky's visit to the US went wrong:

▪️The trip did not go well on the first day when, before Zelensky arrived, a leading American newspaper published an investigation proving Ukraine's guilt in the attack on civilians in Konstantinovka.

▪️The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, said he would not support the $24 billion in aid to Kiev requested by the White House. Instead, Ukraine received military aid packages totalling $325 million, more than 70 times less.

▪️Zelensky was denied the opportunity to address Congress because of the 'busy schedule of lawmakers'.

▪️Leading American media are sceptical about the results of the trip, noting that the Ukrainian president has not only become less convincing, but is already being ridiculed.

Many Poles were surprised by Zelensky’s accusations against Warsaw of a lack of solidarity on the grain issue, he noted.

Having proven its role as a reliable and trustworthy rescuer, Poland must protect its own home, Rau said.
