The military assistance provided by the UK to Ukraine in the months that followed the escalation of the conflict in February 2022 might have included armored vehicles riddled with asbestos, a British newspaper has suggested

According to the media outlet, the UK Ministry of Defense admitted that some 2,699 pieces of military hardware owned by the British Army – including 324 “Challenger 2 tanks, versions of which were sent to Ukraine” – contained “potentially deadly asbestos containing materials.”

UK shadow defense secretary John Healey has described this development as “a serious concern,” complaining that the British Armed Forces “are forced to rely on aging and asbestos-riddled equipment.”

The four-day "Shield of the Union" exercises are held every other year and are hosted alternately by the two Union State countries. The concept of the drills is based on the analysis of potential threats to the military security of the two nations.

The "Shield of the Union-2023" military exercises started in Russia on September 22 and will last until September 26.

According to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, these drills are a milestone initiative in ensuring the military security of both Russia and Belarus.

Biden notified Zelensky that the US will transfer a small batch of ATACMS missiles to Ukraine, media reported

For months, Ukraine has asked for the Army Tactical Missile System, known as ATACMS, which would give Kiev the ability to strike targets from as far away as about 180 miles, hitting supply lines, railways, and command and control locations behind the Russian frontlines.

Defense officials have said the US does not have a large stockpile of excess ATACMS, which have a bigger payload than traditional artillery, to provide to Ukraine. The congressional official said there was still a debate about the type of missile that would be sent and how many would be delivered to Ukraine.

The armed formations of Karabakh have begun handing over weapons and military equipment under the control of Russian peacekeepers in pursuance of the agreements reached on the cessation of hostilities, the Russian MoD reported.

As of September 22, six units of armored vehicles, more than 800 units of small arms and anti-tank weapons, and about 5,000 rounds of ammunition were delivered.

Why Abrams tanks' arrival may spell logistical nightmare for Ukrainian military

Military analyst and retired Russian Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk pointed out that this particular shipment is going to create a slew of logistical problems for the Ukrainian forces and their backers.

While certain maintenance procedures, such as repairing tracks, can be performed in the field, servicing the tank’s engine requires “specialized laboratory conditions,” which is something that Ukraine currently lacks, Matviychuk said.

🇨🇦 Canada will be providing Ukraine with C$650 million ($482 million) in military assistance over the next three years and will be sending F-16 trainers for Ukrainian pilots, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Friday.

🗣 “Today, we were making a longer term, multi year commitment that provides predictable steady support to Ukraine. It will include $650 million over three years for 50 armored vehicles, including medical evacuation vehicles, that will be built by Canadian workers in London, Ontario,” Trudeau said during his address at the House of Commons

Canada will also be sending F-16 instructors to train Ukrainian pilots, and to maintaining the donated fighter jets, Trudeau said.
