🇨🇦 Outrage as Canadian MPs honor Nazi-linked veteran with standing ovation. What is known so far:

▪️Russia will demand an explanation from Canada for its decision to honor a Nazi veteran in the House, Russian Ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov told Sputnik. Stepanov called the act not “a mistake, but a consequence of the impunity of former Nazi criminals”.

▪️Yaroslav Hunka, who fought in the ranks of the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the Nazi SS during the Second World War, received a standing ovation after being hailed as a veteran of the "struggle for Ukrainian independence against the Russians during WWII".

▪️The Speaker of Canada's House of Commons, Anthony Rota, took responsibility for what was characterized as an oversight, calling the initiative "entirely my own".

💬 "I have subsequently become aware of more information which causes me to regret my decision," he said, adding his "deepest apologies" to Jewish communities for honoring the 98-year-old.

▪️But Jewish human rights group, Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center, demanded an apology and said: "An explanation must be provided as to how this individual entered the hallowed halls of the Canadian Parliament and received recognition from the Speaker of the House and a standing ovation,"

▪️The office of Canada's Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, shifted the blame to the House Speaker, saying that "no advance notice was provided to the Prime Minister's Office, nor the Ukrainian delegation, about the invitation or the recognition".

▪️Canada opposition leader Pierre Poilievre criticized the PM's protocol service saying it was responsible for selecting the guests and that none of the parliamentarians could have known about Hunka's “dark past”.

💬 “Mr Trudeau must personally apologize and avoid passing the blame to others as he always does,” he said.

While not clarifying who these officials were, the media personality went on to deplore the fact that no one “defended him” in the US news media.

💬 “I don’t think there was anybody who said ‘wait a second. I may not like this guy but he has a right to interview anyone he wants, and we have a right to hear what Putin says’… You’re not allowed to hear Putin’s voice. Because why? There was no vote on it. No one asked me,” Carlson said in an interview with Swiss media.

He added he believed the world was changing much more quickly than most Americans understand.

🇺🇸 First Abrams tanks have been delivered to Ukraine, two US defense officials said, arriving months ahead of initial estimates and in time to be used in Kiev’s counteroffensive against Russian forces.

More M1 Abrams tanks will be provided in the coming months, sources said, stressing that those that were delivered to Ukraine on Saturday were the first of 31 pledged by the Biden administration. Officials refused to specify how many have been delivered thus far.
