🇷🇺 Russia's response is rooted in deterrence, not escalation, writes Vijainder K Thakur in his column for Sputnik India.
Instead of retaliation with indiscriminate missile strikes, Russia has focused on minimising Storm Shadow attacks through:
▪️ Improved the software of its Air Defense (AD) systems.
▪️ Deployment of Krasukha EW systems to thwart radar imaging of targets by US/NATO SAR equipped drones, aircraft and satellites.
▪️ The use of aerosol spray artillery shells to cloak potential targets from the optical seeker on Storm Shadow and analog missiles.
▪️ Mounting relentless counter air operations on Ukrainian air bases involved in missile attacks on Crimea.

The Russian defense line turned out to be stronger than the West thought - Chief of the British General Staff
''Ukraine's counter-offensive is proceeding slowly because Russia's defensive lines turned out to be stronger than the West expected,'' Chief of the British General Staff Admiral Tony Radakin was quoted as saying by a British newspaper.
Radakin went on to say that Ukraine's operations are hampered by the lack of military training for the country's mobilized soldiers. Furthermore, he elaborated on the limited advancements due to the "wide variety" of military vehicles and equipment utilized by Ukrainian forces, which currently require the use of both Soviet-era and Western weaponry. He also suggested that the Kiev government may have launched its counteroffensive too late.

🇭🇺 Orban believes some Hungarian money from the EU budget could be given to Kiev
The EU froze more than €6 billion earmarked for payments to Hungary, citing failure to meet requirements to fight corruption, increase transparency in public procurement and strengthen the independence of the judiciary. Orban noted that Budapest had met all the European Commission's requirements.
Earlier, Orban's chief of staff, Gergely Guillas, said that Ukraine would not receive a penny from the EU budget until Hungary receives the money it is owed from European funds, as unanimous support is needed to change the EU budget.
