🇬🇧 UK on track for biggest tax hike since WWII, according to a think tank

At the last general election in December 2019, tax revenues accounted for some 33% of national income. They are now on track to rise to 37% under Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt's reign at the treasury, the London-based economics research institute estimated.

"The government may decide to announce tax cuts in the run-up to the next election. But there is no world in which this parliament – or indeed the period since Rishi Sunak became Prime Minister – turns out to be anything other than a tax-raising one. In fact, it is currently on track to be the biggest tax-increasing parliament since comparable records began," the report said.

❗️Key points of Russian MoD briefing on progress of special military op in Ukraine:

▪️During the week, Ukrainian forces continued to attempt offensive actions in the DPR. Over the past week, the Russian Armed Forces have repelled 31 attacks in this area. As a result of the fighting, the enemy lost more than 1,760 Ukrainian troops killed and wounded, 40 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, as well as 70 motor vehicles.

▪️In Zaporozhye area, Russian troops continue to conduct defensive actions, during which they repelled eight enemy attacks during the past week. During the fighting, the enemy's losses amounted to more than 330 Ukrainian troops, 32 armored fighting vehicles, 38 motor vehicles, and 25 field artillery pieces.

▪️Russian units repelled four Ukrainian attacks in southern Donetsk. During the week, the enemy's losses totaled over 750 troops killed and wounded, 22 armored fighting vehicles, 37 motor vehicles, and 15 field artillery pieces.

▪️The Russian Army used air strikes and artillery fire to hit enemy manpower and hardware in the Kharkov region. In this direction, the enemy has lost over 210 Ukrainian troops, five armored fighting vehicles, and 30 motor vehicles, as well as 13 field artillery pieces.

▪️Ukrainian losses for the week amounted to more than 360 troops, 20 armored fighting vehicles, and 20 motor vehicles, as well as 12 guns in Krasny Liman region.

▪️The Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed five warplanes this week.

▪️One Ukrainian Su-25 ground-attack aircraft was shot down in the DPR.

▪️Two Mig-29 fighter jets of the Ukrainian Air Force have been destroyed at the Dolgintsevo airfield, Dnepropetrovsk region.

▪️One Mi-8 helicopter of the Ukrainian Air Force was also shot down by means of air defence in the DPR.

▪️Russian Air defense systems shot down 33 HIMARS and Olkha MLRS projectiles, one JDAM-guided aerial bomb, and four US-made HARM anti-radiation missiles during the week.

▪️Some 482 airplanes and 250 helicopters, 7,252 unmanned aerial vehicles, 438 air defense missile units, 12,210 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,157 combat vehicles equipped with MLRS, 6,584 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 13,590 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the special military operation.

🇫🇮 The Finnish Defense Forces have initiated the signing of agreements with landowners along the Russian border, according to Finland's largest newspaper.

"Over the last 18 months, dozens of property owners have signed confidential land use contracts that allow the fortification work to begin on their properties on 24 hours' notice," the publication wrote.

Upon signing the agreement, the landowner will receive a one-time payment of 750 euros. The contract gives the defense forces the right to build defensive structures on the land and then enter into separate lease agreements for these facilities. The document is valid for 20 years.

The Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces that attacked Rabotino refused to fight due to high losses

The Russian Ministry of Defense said that the Ukrainian command is now withdrawing the 47th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the Rabotino area of the Zaporozhye region to the rear due to its refusal to carry out combat missions after high losses.

The Russian Armed Forces are actively defending the Zaporozhye areas: in a week, the Russian military repelled eight attacks by assault groups of the enemy’s 65th Mechanized and 71st Jaeger Brigades in the Verbovoy and Rabotin areas of the Zaporozhye region.
