It seems that the career of New York Mayor Bill de Blasio will soon go for a burton. First it was discovered that he had spent more than $ 300,000 in taxpayer money on his personal protection and transportation of himself and his family members.

🇮🇹 Now he was booed by Italian Americans when he made his return to the yearly Italian American celebration.

Though he is of Italian ancestry through his mother’s side, de Blasio has not often enjoyed a warm relationship with the Big Apple’s Italian American community.

Last year, de Blasio sparked outrage among his Italian-born compatriots when the city's public school system dropped Columbus Day, replacing it with Indigenous Peoples’ Day

💸 More than $ 100 mln of taxpayer-paid border wall materials have been thrown away and will be wasted in Texas after President Biden stopped building the barrier.

Well, yes, why not throw massive amounts of taxpayer money down the drain, just to annoy @real_DonaldJTrump?

⚡️ Texas Gov. @Greg_Abbott has banned all vaccine mandates in the state by any entity
Dr. Dorian Abbott, an assistant professor of geophysical sciences, was scheduled to deliver a lecture, which had over 1,000 people signed up, but MIT withdrew its invitation. And no, it was not cancelled because it didn't meet the norms and not at all because of the content of the lecture.

It turned out that MIT activists and academics disagreed with Abbott's earlier comments that academic assessment should be based on merit, not race or ethnicity.

🧐 What's next, segregated grading scales?

Environmentalists went a little crazy on Monday.

Dozens of climate protesters took to the streets in Washington DC as Americans celebrate Columbus Day, or what is increasingly being called Indigenous Peoples' Day.

However, something went wrong and protesters spray-painted a statue of former US President Andrew Jackson near the White House and demanded urgent action from Biden on climate change.

🙂 So long as it's in the name of protecting the environment, right?

👽 Demi Lovato, who declared herself non-binary and began using they / them pronouns in May, stated that the term 'alien' is a 'derogatory term' that is offensive to aliens and that 'ETs' should be used instead.

🗣 'I think that we have to stop calling them aliens because aliens is a derogatory term for anything,' Lovato said. 'That's why I like to call them ETs! So yeah, that's a little tidbit. A little information that I learned.'

😅 It is not clear what is more strange in this situation - that Demi considers it offensive to call aliens 'aliens' or the fact that Demi believes they exist?

🤦 Kids in Kamala Harris' space video turned out to be child actors Subscribe to @sputniknewsus
In a new YouTube show aimed at encouraging children to "get curious" about space, Vice President Harris talked with five children who seemed to be ordinary guests.

However, it turns out that the kids auditioned to appear on the show: they reportedly provided a monologue and wrote down three questions they would have asked the VP.

One of her five "guests", 13-year-old Trevor Bernardino, said that he submitted a monologue and was interviewed for a role.

"And then after that, like a week later, my agent called me, and he's like, 'Hey Trevor, you booked it'", Bernardino said.

🪘The US is expected to return 157 stolen antiquities to India by year's end.

The items are mostly statues and idols made of metal, stone, and terracotta that were stolen and illegally trafficked abroad.

One of the terracotta pieces dates back to the 2nd century CE. Another item is a copper anthropomorphic object from 2000 BC. Nearly 45 of the artefacts are more than two millennia old.

The bronze collection primarily contains ornate figurines of deities and divine figures including Hindu Gods Lakshmi-Narayana, Vishnu, Shiva Parvathi, and Lord Buddha among others.
🙋‍♀️ Another Facebook whistleblower is ready to testify before Congress.

Sophie Zhang, a former data scientist at Facebook, says she is ready to "fulfill her civic duty" and testify against her former employer if the US Congress wishes her to do so.

The woman was fired from Facebook in August 2020, after she posted a 7,800-word memo in which she detailed how the company allegedly failed to do enough to tackle hate and misinformation, especially in developing countries.
