The 'Nakidka' consists of a multi-layer camouflage material that is applied to tanks as a cover. It reduces the visibility of combat vehicles in both infrared and radar range.

"In the course of special military operation, the 'Nakidka' camouflage has demonstrated its ability to deflect missiles from the US-made Javelin anti-tank missile complex. Since 'Nakidka' significantly reduces the thermal emissions of the tank and soothes out the so-called thermal contrast zones, it disrupts the target lock of the Javelin anti-tank missile, which relies on an infrared homing system," the agency's source said.

🇪🇸 Local authorities on the Spanish El Hierro island are decrying the lack of support and demanding urgent assistance.

Over the course of 48 hours, 1,200 individuals made their way to El Hierro, the smallest of the Canary Islands, known for its population of just 11,000.

"I have never seen a boat with so many people on board," acknowledged an ex-migration adviser for the Canary Islands regional government.

Only nine migrants had made it to the island by June 8. But the figure has now surged to 3,300 in the last few weeks.

At least 120 were killed and more than 1,000 were injured as a result of an earthquake in western Afghanistan, AFP reported on Saturday, citing a local official. Earlier reports indicated that at least 14 people were killed and 78 were injured in the 6.4-magnitude quake.

Four villages in the Zenda Jan district encountered the greatest severity of the earthquake, said Mohammad Abdullah Jan, the disaster authority spokesperson. The earthquake also produced three strong aftershocks in magnitudes of 6.3, 5.9, and 5.5, according to the United States Geological Survey.

At least 465 houses were destroyed and another 135 were damaged during the earthquake according to an earlier report from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, but the new total could be greater.

🇺🇸 California Governor Gavin Newsom vetoed legislation on Saturday that would have decriminalized possession of small amounts of hallucinogenic drugs in the state, claiming the issue required further research.

“California should immediately begin work to set up regulated treatment guidelines – replete with dosing information, therapeutic guidelines, rules to prevent against exploitation during guided treatments, and medical clearance of no underlying psychoses," Newsom said, explaining his rationale for the veto. “Unfortunately, this bill would decriminalize possession prior to these guidelines going into place, and I cannot sign it.”

Gavin Newsom’s veto of the legislation marks a setback for campaigners in one of the country’s most socially liberal states amid falling support for drug liberalization in neighboring Oregon.
