❗️Key points of the Russian Defense Ministry briefing on the progress of the special military operation in Ukraine:

▪️In the direction of Zaporozhye, the Russian army repulsed an attack by Ukrainian troops. Ukrainian losses amounted to 85 servicemen and two armored vehicles;

▪️In the Donetsk direction, up to 115 Ukrainian servicemen were killed and wounded, two armored vehicles were destroyed in strikes on Ukrainian military units;

▪️In the Kupyansk direction, the Russian Army repulsed 13 attacks by Ukrainian troops. Ukrainian losses amounted to 80 servicemen, three tanks, one American M113 infantry fighting vehicle and three other armored vehicles;

▪️Near Krasny Liman, the Russian Army repulsed one attack by Ukrainian forces. Ukrainian losses amounted to 60 servicemen and two armored vehicles;

▪️Towards the south of Donetsk, the Russian Army repulsed an attack by Ukrainian troops. Ukrainian losses amounted to 170 servicemen;

▪️In the Kherson direction, four Ukrainian sabotage groups were stopped, up to 70 Ukrainian soldiers were destroyed.

Trade between China and Russia has expanded dramatically in recent years, growing even as other nations are struggling to maintain trade volumes. Both nations are members of numerous international groups aimed at developing new trade routes centered on their needs and not the West’s, creating great potential for development, an economist said.

As most of the world’s nations gathered in Beijing to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), an infrastructure megaproject initiated by China with projects in more than 150 countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin called attention to the special relationship burgeoning between Moscow and Beijing.

Underwater inspection of the Balticconnector gas pipeline is continuing in the Gulf of Finland, the Finnish navy stated on Wednesday.

"Underwater research in the Gulf of Finland continues. The oil recovery vessel Halli supports the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation in the investigation of the Balticconnector pipeline with the Finnish Border Guard. HMC Purunpaa has moved to support Estonia in the investigation of the telecommunications cable," the navy said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Balticconnector was shut down early on October 8 after a sudden drop in pressure raised concerns that gas was leaking from the 48-mile undersea pipeline, which has an annual capacity of up to 2.6 billion cubic meters. Pipeline operator Gasgrid Finland said the pipeline appeared to have been damaged.

Russian air defenses well-adapted to taking out aged ATACMS missiles US gave to Ukraine

The US has confirmed that it transferred MGM-140 Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) to Ukraine, which were then used to strike Russian forces in Berdyansk, on the Sea of Azov. The short-range surface-launched ballistic missile is fired from the HIMARS, which the US previously supplied to Ukraine along with missiles inferior to the ATACMS.

While Ukraine has received a new longer-range ballistic missile from the US, the weapon is of limited use due to its age, against which Russian defense systems are well-adapted, an expert told Sputnik. The weapon might cause problems for Russian forces, but its impact will be limited.
