🇨🇦 Over 60% of Canadians are dissatisfied with the government led by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a Leger poll revealed on Wednesday.

"Less than one-third of Canadians are satisfied with Trudeau’s government (30%), 3 points lower than our last Tracker in September," the poll said. Another 24% are "somewhat dissatisfied" and 39% are "very dissatisfied," bringing their total share to 63%.

The opposition Conservative Party led by Pierre Poilievre continues to lead in voting intentions, with 40% support, 14 points ahead of Trudeau's Liberal Party.

Poilievre also has a comfortable lead over Trudeau when it comes to who would make the best Prime Minister (29% versus 18%.)

Report: Germany May Ditch Joint Fighter Jet Project With France to Join UK

Germany may abandon the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) fighter jet project it is running with France and Spain in favor of another project with the United Kingdom, UK media reported on Wednesday, citing people in the know.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is reportedly concerned that the FCAS project risks becoming too costly, as Germany has already committed 40 billion euros to it.

In addition, the FCAS jets may not be commercially viable because they are scheduled to be released in 2040, while the US' sixth-generation fighter jets are expected by 2030. The project has allegedly been plagued by delays and disputes over funding and design.

🇺🇸 The Federal Reserve left US interest rates unchanged at its November policy meeting on Wednesday, for the second straight time since September, after 11 prior rate hikes restrained inflation that stood at four-decade highs last year.

🗣 “The committee seeks to achieve maximum employment and inflation at the rate of 2 percent over the longer run,” the Fed said in a statement, referring to its policy-making Federal Open Market Committee. “In support of these goals, the Committee decided to maintain the target range for the federal funds rate at 5-1/4 to 5-1/2 percent,” the Fed added.

The 5.25%-5.5% range, in place since July, is the highest in terms of lending rates the United States has practiced since 2001, records show.

Ukrainian top general: 'We are in a stalemate, NATO textbooks were not much help'

The Ukrainian army's counteroffensive is in a stalemate, and a massive technological leap is needed to break the deadlock, Commander-in-Chief General Valery Zaluzhny has admitted in an interview with the Economist.

"There will most likely be no deep and beautiful breakthrough," he stressed.

The general also admitted that "NATO's textbooks" and "the calculations that Kiev made" to plan the counteroffensive did not help the Ukrainian forces break through the Russian defensive lines.

Earlier media reported that Zaluzhny and Volodymyr Zelensky are at odds, with the latter believing that Ukraine should press ahead with counteroffensive attempts while the veteran top brass officer urges caution.
