40N6: the new missile that doubled Russia's air defenses range

The already-famous Russian S-400 air defense system made headlines this week after it was used to attack a target in the Ukrainian conflict zone with a new type of long-range missile.

The new 40N6 guided missile launched by S-400 units was used to engage targets “at maximum distances,” with Russian A-50 early warning aircraft operating in tandem with the launchers and providing additional guidance to the missiles, one digital media outlet noted.

The media outlet has taken a particular interest in the missile used in this attack, pointing out that the 40N6's trajectory – first ascending to an extremely high altitude before descending upon the intended target – essentially affords it both “unparalleled over the horizon strike capabilities” and the ability to take out low-altitude targets.

Sixteen Democratic and Republican members of US Congress have called for US President Joe Biden to withdraw the extradition request by the United States against Australian journalist and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, a document published by Assange's wife, Stella Assange, showed.

The Members of Congress, said in the document that "deep concerns about this case have been repeatedly expressed by international media outlets, human right and press freedom advocates, and Members of Congress, among others."

The Members of Congress said they believe the US Department of Justice "acted correctly in 2013 ... when it declined to pursue charges against Mr. Assange for publishing the classified documents because it recognized that the prosecution would set a dangerous precedent."

Palestine, he added, appreciates anyone who supports a cessation of the war and hopes collectively they can succeed.

Washington fears Israel's protracted military campaign in Gaza could spark a wider conflict in the Middle East, with Israel and the US facing isolation as the world calls for a ceasefire, US media reported, citing officials in the Biden administration.

The officials reportedly said that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has a limited amount of time to finish its operation in Gaza before Arab countries become enraged and the United States frustrated by the growing number of civilian casualties.

They believe that the longer the Israeli campaign lasts, the greater the chances that the conflict will turn into a large-scale war. Some of them added that Israel’s strong response to the October 7 attack had boosted sympathy for the Palestinian issue across the globe.

A surgical team from NYU Langone Health, an academic medical center at New York University, has performed the first-ever whole-eye and partial-face transplant for a 46-year-old military veteran, the center said.

"A surgical team from NYU Langone Health performed the world’s first whole-eye and partial-face transplant for a 46-year-old military veteran from Arkansas who survived a work-related high-voltage electrical accident. The surgery included transplanting the entire left eye and a portion of the face from a single donor, making this the first-ever human whole-eye transplant in medical history and the only successful combined transplant case of its kind," the release said.

The surgery, which was performed on May 27, lasted approximately 21 hours and included a team of more than 140 surgeons, nurses and other medical personnel.

🗣 Israel bombing of Gaza has no military justification

"I think it's an illegitimate argument and it's an argument predicated on what the United States and Great Britain did in World War II, where we justified killing civilians in the name of ending the war. But the fact of the matter is, that war did not end because the 8th Air Force killed over a million German civilians... It was called ‘Soviet troops went into Berlin and took out Hitler's bunker’.
