The bridge over Niagara Falls at the US-Canada border has been closed after a car incident at a checkpoint, ABC News reports. According to the channel, there was an explosion.

The explosion killed two people in the car and a border guard was injured, Fox News reports.

The FBI is investigating the explosion as an attempted terrorist attack.

"The FBI Buffalo Field Office is investigating a vehicle explosion at the Rainbow Bridge... The FBI is coordinating with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners in this investigation," the FBI said in a statement, noticing that situation is "fluid".

"I’ve been briefed on the incident on the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls and we are closely monitoring the situation. State agencies are on site and ready to assist," Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a post on X.

"The Buffalo and Niagara Falls Airports are fully operational. We advise travelers to give themselves time for these extra precautions in addition to holiday travel," the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority said in a post on X, indicating that security systemwide would be increased with additional screening and security checks at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport.

A suitcase has been found on the Rainbow Bridge and may contain an explosive device, ABC reported.

Law enforcement officials are searching for a second vehicle that may be linked to the incident, Fox News reported.

All western New York bridge crossings into the US were shut down, the Erie County executive said, with the Erie County Sheriff’s Office adding that the allegedly exploded vehicle was headed into the US from Canada.

In 2023-2026, Canada plans to provide CAD $1.331 billion (about USD $971.5 million) in military assistance to Ukraine, according to the country's budget proposal.

According to figures outlined in the document, CAD $816 million (USD $595.6 million) is earmarked for military aid to Kiev for the fiscal year 2023-2024. In the following financial year, 2024-2025, the allocation drops to CAD $318 million (about USD $232.1 million), and in 2025-2026 it further decreases to CAD $197 million (about USD $143.8 million).

However, no funds will be appropriated for military assistance to Ukraine beginning in fiscal year 2026-2027.
