🇺🇸 Talking Turkey About US Inflation

US media have claimed the average price of the annual Thanksgiving dinner had fallen since 2022, mainly due to lower turkey prices. But economist Dr Linwood Tauheed pointed out to Sputnik that poultry prices spiked last year due to an avian flu outbreak — and that real-terms inflation was higher than the official rate.

“It doesn't mean that the price of turkeys is not high. It just means that it's less this year than than last year," Tauheed said. “Food prices in general are up, as well as rent prices and other prices that ordinary people have to spend their money on.”

🇺🇸📉 Palestinian-Israeli сonflict accelerates US geopolitical decline

President Joe Biden's support for Israel is undermining America's diplomatic standing in the Middle East, with regional players increasingly turning to Russia and China for alternative leadership, Syriana Analysis founder Kevork Almassian told Sputnik's New Rules podcast.

The US is losing its grip amid the Palestine-Israel conflict and alienating Mideast powers by failing to prevent Tel Aviv from bombing Gaza into the Stone Age.

Recently, the Biden administration tried to steal the show by taking the whole credit for the four-day humanitarian pause in the strip. Still, if truth be told, it was Qatar, not the US, who negotiated the truce on the ground.

The attack reportedly happened in the early afternoon near a school in Parnell Square East. A five-year-old girl, a woman in her 30s and a man in his 50s were seriously injured, with the girl receiving emergency medical treatment, according to police. A five-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl suffered lesser injuries.

Police have reportedly made an arrest of a man in his 50s, but have yet to determine a motive.

🗣 "We will not tolerate a small number using an appalling incident to spread division,” said Justice Minister Helen McEntee, as quoted by the Irish Times, and condemned attacks on police.

🗣 "We are all shocked by the incident which has taken place in Parnell Square... Our thoughts and our prayers go out to them and their families," wrote Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar on X.

🇮🇱 Israel running out of foreign friends as Gaza siege goes on

Israel has agreed to a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip before achieving its stated aim of destroying the Hamas movement. George Szamuely, a senior research fellow at the Global Policy Institute, said Tel Aviv was wary of losing support among its Western backers.

Israel is alienating its Western allies and could soon be left with just the US support, says a political pundit.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government made a U-turn this week when it agreed to a previously-rejected ceasefire and prisoner exchange proposed by the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas.

Casualties have been mounting both among Palestinian civilians and Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) troops as they attack the besieged Gaza Strip in retaliation for the October 7 attacks on southern Israel by the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas.

🪖 'Soldiers going crazy': Ukraine has no one left to fight because of desertion

The botched counteroffensive has caused the Kiev regime a serious shortage of human resources for mobilization, not to mention growing questions from Kiev's Western allies and donors as to what they are actually providing money and weapons for.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are clearly having trouble replenishing their ranks. People are unwilling to die for the Kiev regime and actively avoid mobilization or desert. Of course, the propaganda claims the opposite.

🇮🇱 💸 Budget blowout: Israel's $48 bln war bill dependent on bond markets

Tel Aviv needs to borrow extensively to support its gravest armed engagement in decades, because of the demands of its present financial situation. With a whopping $300 billion debt stock to manage, the conflict has doubled the cost of insuring its sovereign bonds against default.

The escalating military operations by the IDF in Gaza cast a spotlight on the country’s deepening economic challenges, as the conflict enters its seventh week. Amidst this continuing turmoil, a team of Israeli technocrats known as the 'government’s CFO' are responsible for navigating the emerging economic complexities.

Leader Capital Markets, a top financial advisory firm in Israel, reports that the war costs the economy around $270 million every day. It estimates a total fiscal impact of $48 bln for 2023-24. Israel bears two-thirds of these costs, and the United States of America covers the remaining one-third.

🇳🇱🇮🇱 Netherlands to continue supplying F-35 parts to Israel despite war crimes risks

Dutch ministers said in a letter to parliament that the Netherlands will continue to supply spare parts to Israel because there is no evidence that Israel's F-35s are involved in violations of humanitarian law, adding that the transit of the parts from the United States is necessary because Israel is also threatened by Iran, among others.

"Stopping the supply of F-35 parts to Israel would impose restrictions on Israel’s ability to deploy the aircraft in the context of these regional threats," they said in the letter.
