Republican lawmakers have enough votes to launch a formal impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden, House Speaker Mike Johnson told a US news network.

He stressed that Republicans "have an obligation to do this" and that they "cannot stop the process.

Johnson called the Biden impeachment inquiry a "necessary step" and vowed that GOP lawmakers would not use the probe as a partisan tool against the Democratic Party.

Europe and the United States will face problems if the West stops supporting Ukraine, Ukrainian Armed Forces General Viktor Nazarov said in an interview with CNN.

"If we can't win, then there will be much more problems in the future, and not only our country, my country, our population. Both Europe and the United States will have problems," the serviceman said.

The Ukrainian general also noted that the statement of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhny about the deadlock is an alarm signal for Kiev's Western allies.

The petition was registered on September 5 on the website of Volodymyr Zelensky by the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Alexander Dubinsky, who is currently being held in custody suspected of treason.

Who will capitalize on low lithium prices?

“Lower lithium prices would make it cheaper for the manufacturers, who are the buyers of lithium, so this is actually an advantage for the buyer rather than the seller,” Thomas W. Pauken II, geopolitical commentator and consultant on Asia-Pacific affairs, told Sputnik.

Pauken II also suggested that if lithium prices go down further, this “would obviously be a big win for China”, which buys at least half of the world’s largest lithium mines on the market.

Prices for lithium – a key component of electric vehicle (EV) batteries – have been plunging in China, the top consumer and largest producer of the metal. Noting the importance of lithium refining, Elon Musk urged entrepreneurs to enter this business, which he described as “a license to print money.”

Russia’s OSV-96 large-bore sniper rifle is now capable of engaging advanced NATO armored personnel carriers (APCs) thanks to a new cartridge. The bullet is high-precision and single-element, which gives it increased armor-piercing efficiency.

“While standard ammunition has multi-element bullets, those in the new cartridges are single-element, namely, they are made of a solid steel rod” and can engage NATO APCs with reinforced armor, the representative of the design bureau explained.

He added that the use of single-element bullets adds significantly to the reliability of the OSV-96 rifle, now capable of hitting a light armored car at a distance of up to two kilometers, and vehicles with more serious armor from a distance of up to 1.5 kilometers.
