❗️An Israeli mercenary complains about hardships in the Ukrainian army, while asking for money and weapons through social networks, Sputnik has discovered.

Ariah Ben Yehudah, 58, a retired Israeli police officer, decided to join the Ukrainian army's Foreign Legion unit in March 2022. However, his posts on social networks suggest that he may not be fully satisfied with his current situation.

The British-born Israeli mercenary often appeals to his subscribers for support, complaining about insufficient funds to maintain his vehicles (photo 1). He also encourages them to “put pressure” on governments assisting Ukraine for more military aid (photo 2). For instance, he recently requested that US President Biden provide 500 Abrams tanks to the Ukrainian army, emphasizing the “urgency” by asking "how many orphans does the West need?” (photo 3). In addition, he conveyed his frustration about the vulnerability of the vehicles he operates, saying he was "sick of flying around in these paper thin war horses" (photo 4).

When the conflict between Israel and Gaza broke out in early October, he left for Israel (photo 5). However, on November 1 he wrote that he had returned to Ukraine (photo 6).

🇮🇶 Day in history: Iraqi President Saddam Hussein captured by US military 20 years ago (13.12.2003)

The US forces found Hussein in the Iraqi city of Ad-Dawr during numerous searches as part of the course of the US invasion in Iraq. While being captured, Hussein did not resist, but only announced: “I am Saddam Hussein, the president of Iraq, and I am ready to negotiate.” Three years later, a court in Iraq sentenced Hussein to death.

The US launched its invasion based on alleged evidence that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction, presented by then-Secretary of State Colin Powell at the UN Security Council in 2003. However, a CIA report submitted to Congress a year later concluded that there were no WMDs in the country at the time of the invasion.

Not long ago, an excerpt from an interview with Vladimir Putin, recorded in 2007, went viral online. In it, the Russian president talks about Hussein and what happened next in Iraq.

“I don't see Ukraine surviving too long into 2024. The days of the West turning over hundreds of tanks, armoured fighting vehicles, and artillery pieces is over. We just don't have any left to give. So, the best Zelensky can hope for is penny packets of armor, infantry fighting vehicles, some ammunition, and maybe an F-16 or two,” Scott Ritter, former US Marine intelligence officer, former UN weapons inspector, told the New Rules podcast.

🤔 No money for Ukraine this year? Why Zelensky's charm hasn't worked on Congress

US lawmakers don't seem willing to pour more money into the black hole of Ukraine's war effort without oversight, strategy and prospects to win.

"Ukraine is losing all along the front," Dr. Jack Rasmus, a professor of economics and politics at St. Mary's College in California, told Sputnik's Critical Hour podcast. "And throwing bad money after bad is pretty obvious. But Biden is desperate. He's got to get some money out of Congress to at least get through the next couple of months because they will run out of money for Ukraine in the next couple of months."

Europeans also appear to be in a deadlock concerning next year's $54 billion in Ukraine assistance over Hungary's opposition.

"Zelensky's days are numbered and everybody knows that," Rasmus said. "And everybody knows that there's no new offensive that Ukraine can put up."

Under the auspices of the agreement signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, new facilities for joint training of Russian and Belarusian troops are going to be established.

The new military training initiative comes as Russia and Belarus frequently conduct joint military exercise and work toward jointly addressing any potential threats coming from the West.

🇪🇺🇭🇺 The European Commission (EC) has agreed to transfer €10 billion to Hungary from a fund intended for the development of depressed areas of the European Union. The funds were blocked due to Brussels' demands on the rule of law and the fight against corruption, Reuters reported.

Earlier on Wednesday, EC representative Eric Mamer refused to acknowledge that this money's allocation was a condition for Budapest’s support for Ukraine funding worth €50 billion. The decision on Ukraine's assistance will be made at the EU summit on December 14-15 in Brussels and is expected to last until ent end of 2027. Mamer claimed that the delay in the transfer of funds to Hungary was solely due to “EU legal procedure”, the deadline for which is December 15.

Swedish mercenary fighting on Ukraine's side killed in conflict zone, according to a report

“The Swede died in battles in Ukraine. The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed... that the man is about 30 years old and a native of Svealand,” the message says.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has repeatedly stated that the Kiev regime is using foreign mercenaries as “cannon fodder”, and the Russian military will continue to target and eliminate them throughout the conflict zone.

Many mercenaries themselves have acknowledged during various interviews that the Ukrainian military lacks efficient coordination in their action. Moreover, they face a slim chance of survival in battles due to the intense nature of the conflict, which is unlike what they have experienced in Afghanistan and the Middle East.

🇺🇸🇮🇱 Western media reports on the deepening political rift between the US and Israel.

The possible reason? A lack of consistency in the two nations’ stance when it comes to the vision for the post-war Gaza Strip.

However, it’s hard to say whether the rising disagreements between the two allies will have serious far-reaching consequences, but the major criticism against the Israeli government is impossible to ignore, Lyudmila Samarskaya, candidate of science (history) and a research fellow from the Center for the Middle Eastern Studies at the Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO), told Sputnik.

“This is not the first time the public has expressed their criticism [against the Israeli government]. It has been systematic, and it has to do with the particular government that came to power in Israel. Of course, Israel is not fond of it. Particularly, the country’s leadership. But the US remains an important ally and an essential partner. A good number of Israelis believe that the US stance is something to be reckoned with. Besides, many in Israel disagree with their government’s policy. It [the incumbent government] insists that it represents the will of the [country’s] majority, but it is not exactly the case. The reason is that roughly half of the population supports them, and the other half does not,” she said.

🇺🇸🪙The Federal Reserve left US interest rates unchanged during its policy meeting, marking the third time in a row for such a decision after 11 prior interest rate hikes to help ease inflation.

The 5.25%-5.5% range, in place since July, is the highest level in lending rates that the United States has practiced since 2001.

It was further indicated that three rate cuts were on the board in 2024, with another four in 2025. Three additional cuts were forecasted for 2026, with the ultimate goal being to cut rates to between 2% and 2.25%.
